Subject: BS: Fathers day From: C-flat Date: 20 Jun 04 - 06:43 AM I was woken this morning at 6.30am by my excited 7 year-old daughter who couldn't wait to give me my fathers'day present and card! As much as I dislike the greetings card business for creating as many "special" days as possible in their quest for profit, I can't pretend not to enjoy being fussed over by my daughter or smile at the pleasure she took from presenting me with the gift that she had picked for me the day before. A pen that doubles as a radio! I can't imagine how I've got by this long without one of these gadgets! Happy fathers' day to all the Mudcat dads! C-flat. |
Subject: RE: BS: Fathers day From: Rasener Date: 20 Jun 04 - 07:09 AM My 8 year old daughter came running down the stairs and gave me a present which was a key fob she made at brownies and an A4 page with hearts all over it and a verse on the other side :- Roses are red Violets are blue Sugar is sweet And so are you Much better than going out and spending money all over the place and far more appreciated. My 12 year old daughter when asked about my present from her :-), replied, I haven't finished your present yet. She is making me something at ceramic artwork lessons that she goes to. So I am waiting to see what it is. Once again avoiding the profit making companies. Maybe its a beer tankard!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Fathers day From: fat B****rd Date: 20 Jun 04 - 07:20 AM I got a Homer Simpson World's Greatest Dad card with a big bar of chocolate. If the other 8 Stepchildren/children did the same....I'd LOVE it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Fathers day From: GUEST,Seaking Date: 20 Jun 04 - 07:40 AM I work away from home but try to talk to my children every day by telephone. This morning they rather exitedly told me to "listen to Steve Wright on Radio 2, Hint Hint". To avoid their inevitable disappointment I tried to explain to them that although it was a lovely thought, there was no chance he'd broadcast their request for me. He did...! Special thoughts to other Dads away from their children today-for whatever reason. Chris |
Subject: RE: BS: Fathers day From: Rasener Date: 20 Jun 04 - 07:50 AM Bet that bought a few tears to your eyes Chris. Sounds like you could compose a weepy folk song based on it!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Fathers day From: Ellenpoly Date: 20 Jun 04 - 10:23 AM I'm sending out a Happy Father's Day Greeting to all of your Mudcat Dads who deserve it. If you love your kids, and let them know it a lot. If you support them in their efforts, and make them feel that all things are possible. If you remember to be there on the important occasions... and always ALWAYS let them say whatever they need to say to you, and LISTEN... Then I salute you! ..xx..e (PS-My own father died when I was 15, but while he was alive he did all of the above, and what I wrote is in his memory). |

It can't have been easy for threm to get organised whilst we were away at a fesival. Ellenpoly - I'll try to take your advice. Quack! GtD. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fathers day From: Tracey Dragonsfriend Date: 21 Jun 04 - 04:21 AM A mixed day for my Dad, I think... the day before, he got his blood test results back, saying he has no trace of cancer any more, but that morning one of his oldest pals died of liver cancer. I suppose that's all part of the rollercoaster of life... Tracey Dragonsfriend |
