Our own hesperis has gotten herself hitched to a fine young man and they are supposed to be heading out of town early tomorrow. She didn't have time to post this, so I offered to do it for her.

Wedding Ceremony Pics:

There are no photos of the ceremony yet as we were only allowed to borrow his parents' older camera to take to the ceremony. (The new digital camera was too valuable for us to borrow for wedding pictures, but we took a few with it when we got home.) The Judge was gracious enough to take a few pics for us though. She was happy to do something nice for once instead of her usual work there! I just hope the pics turn out alright when developed. That will take a while yet, sorry!

Unfortunately we had nobody else there to share the moment, the one person we thought could actually make it to the court on the day got a flat tire before he even left his city! But it was still very wonderful.

Ceremony:

In addition to the standard vows that make a marriage legal, we added our own personal vows to each other.

I vow to love you, to be intelligently loyal to you,
and to treasure your presence in my life
for the rest of my life.

Let us both promise to help each other
become ever more true to our truer, deeper Selves,
and to the Higher Power that guides us.
So be it.

The ceremony was really simple and really beautiful. We gathered to join our lives together, then said the standard vows, then said our personal vows, then exchanged rings as symbols of our love and our vows. Then we kissed, of course!

Moving to our new home (a shed on friends' property) tomorrow. Going to miss the dog a lot.

Well, the move didn't work out. The shed never got completed for human habitation, I was sick all the time in the house (mould, dust, animals, ragweed giants in the driveway), plus which after we'd been there for several weeks there was a zoning problem and they asked us not to use the address for anything legal (even though they'd known in advance that we had to find a place to live and immigrate to, not just a place to stay for a while)!

Steve and I almost split up while we were there, it was just so much stress. But we got through it, even though I'm convinced it was the weirdest honeymoon ever.

Now we're back at his parents and only just starting immigration. Argh. I'm better at paperwork than he is but this is just confusing. Also, money is not good after the move to Minnesota and back, and I can't get a part-time job here for several months. :(

Still, it's awesome to wake up every morning to someone you love. Makes it a lot easier to go through hell to the other side of it.
