As we struggle with thoughts of the fittest survival
Connecting the dots makes us now Bush's rival
To peace and diplomacy, he's but a stranger
His long lost romancing is fraught full of danger

And so and then thus, as we wake from our sleep
What is all this fuss, in the face of the deep?
The horizon is calling, let's leave by remaining
So as George is falling, evolution's our training...

So as his grasp lessens, and 'the people' gain power
Hark less the depressents, and free thought may flower
And thus and then so, may invention's fruition
Relieve us to know that it's fitter to listen.

TTR,

You are the poet here, and I am glad of it. Good one.

TTR:

I came back to cut and paste the poem to Word so I can keep an example of what well-considered topical writing really is. That, sir, is one helluva poem. Thank you. And you be well, too.

I must confess that I was going to challenge your use of 'fraught'. You are undefeated! Unlike bush, I hope.

m/m:

I have wasted some time in the past looking to find TTR misusing words. He may have, but I ain't seen it yet in the body of his poetry. (Thread titles don't count.)

Sorry, Thomas, to be speaking of you in the third person. I think it's really bitchin' that not only does a poet address topical material, but also does it well. You and I have had a few differences in the past (very few), but the quality of your poetry was never the cause of them. You are lots more than a rhymer. I shall depart now before I make you blush. Love the poem (and the politics).
