Subject: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 31 Aug 04 - 10:39 AM CatsPHiddle wanted to be in it this year, so I've offered to take over as the SECSY... Santa's Executive Compiler of Secrets this Year. As before, you PM me your details, I will put you in the Santa Sack and match you with someone for whom you buy/make/knit/compose a gift and send it to them in time for Christmas. If you have never been included before, we just need your name, a postal address, including postal/zip code and country, and your willingness to participate. You send a gift to the address you are given and someone else sends you a gift. Gifts should be not more than $20 unless you really want to, but remember that postage can get pretty high with heavy items. There is usually a thread (or you can refer to previous ones) about those taking part and their preferences, usually around the middle/end of September. Having not done this before, I'm starting early so I have plenty of time to sort it out if I get in a pickle. Besides, including Sundays, there are only 115 shopping days left until Christmas! SECSY LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: greg stephens Date: 31 Aug 04 - 10:49 AM Is it that time already? It's still August, and summer! Anyway,I'm in, as ever. I will PM you details now. |
Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: GUEST,MMario Date: 31 Aug 04 - 10:51 AM Liz - do you need details from those-who-have-done-it-before or is CatsPH giving you her ultra-secret files? |
Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 31 Aug 04 - 10:55 AM Send it to me anyway! That way it can all be a lovely surprise for Manitas when he finds the room he spent the weekend tidying, covered in paper! I know it's still August for most people (it's September already in Australia) but on the way back from Towersey festival, the trees were decidedly yellow and the berries are plump and juicy, ready to eat. There's also Christmas Craft stuff on the QVC shopping channel and I saw my first set of Christmas cards for sale in a shop last week.... it's not as far away as you think! SECSY LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 31 Aug 04 - 01:17 PM September is only a day away! Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 01 Sep 04 - 02:40 AM My dining room decorations never came down! Saves dusting the cobwebs out. Just spay them silver and they become instant decorations! It's time to put the sprouts on to boil, although some have been on since May. Of course, now it is September and only 3 weeks to the end of Summer, the sky is blue and cloudless, the sun is shining brilliantly and I got 2 Christmas catalogues in the post last week. In Britain today we received the news that the Post Office have failed in all their 15 targets for delivering the mail, despite removing the second delivery to allow more time to complete the first...... I suggest DHL, Carrier Pigeon or tame duck - anything is going to be faster than the British Postal service! LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 01 Sep 04 - 09:26 AM me too, me too!! (please) I had a great time the last 2 years, even tho my 2002 pressie from Giac took from mid Nov to early Feb to arrive. Fortunately last year's pressie from Micca arrived a month before chrissy AND I did not open it until the actual day. I finally put away most of my chrissy decorations last month - a few were forgotten & I'm looking at a tiny velvet tree at the moment. One of my favourite charities just sent out it's merchandise catalogue which included a page of chrissy cards, & the embroidery shop has christmas designs in it's window & someone borrowed a book of christmas decorations from my local library, so it must be time to start thinking of preparations for the festive season. No matter how many celebrations/retail events are still to happen. Thank, Liz for starting the ball rolling. sandra |
Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Blackcatter Date: 01 Sep 04 - 11:27 AM I suppose I'll be in eventually. The second hurricane in a month is barreling directly for Orlando, and if this one is worse than the first, I will probably have to move. So I'll wait until the storm is passed, the electricity comes back on (took a week last time), and if I still have a computer and a home. Also, I've decided to not post in the BS section, so following the santa threads will be difficult. I'll send a PM when I can. |

But it is disheartening to know that Liz can't play, her being the SECSY and all. I had so looked forward to the possibility of sending her a large tube of lithium grease to help with that annoying squeak and, maybe, a muzzle and leash for Limpit. Well, maybe next year. |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Sep 04 - 03:57 AM I'll try to keep this thread bobbing near the top until the end of September. After that you get about a month to find a present before we start running out of time for international mailings. If anyone would like to purchase some special, seasonal greetings cards (not necessarily Christmas cards), I've got some handmade and cross stitched cards for sale at the princely sum of £1.25 each. They cost me £1.00 for materials to make and if I sell any via Mudcat, the remaining 25p goes to Mudcat. If I sell them outside of Mudcat, the 25p goes to the British Heart Foundation. Of course, I'm not organised enough to have pictures available, but if I ever get the hang of this HMTL thing, I will make a webpage and add a link to this thread! (If anyone wants to come and set me up with one, I'd be very happy to provide beer!) LTS |

Info to me: your snail mail address via PM, which will only be divulged to your Santa. Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: MBSLynne Date: 03 Oct 04 - 10:46 AM So...when do we get to find out who we're sending to? (I'm getting all excited!) Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Oct 04 - 03:50 PM The lists are made, just one or two things to confirm, like ~ addresses for Amergin and Clinton Hammond! USA participants far outweigh the UK/Rest of the World but that can only make for more fun! You will shortly be recieving a PM from SECSY which will contain the name and address of your Santee (unless it's Amergin or Clinton.....) but it is up to you to find out their secret desires and deepest yearnings on the Secret Santa Hints thread for 2004. Don't worry if you wanted to join but think you are too late, I'm keeping an open book until Oct 14th. After that, it's next year I'm afraid. OK chaps, we're going in..... ! SECSY LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 03 Oct 04 - 09:38 PM If you don't post them, how will your Secret Santa know what to send you? Of course post them! And later on if you're lucky your Santa will send some silly hints to a different thread (keep your eyes open for it) so you can guess who he/she might be. SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: moonglow Date: 03 Oct 04 - 10:09 PM Liz- I'll make you a neofriend (I just don't play very often). my name is psychoticcow (don't ask). and Ragnarok doesn't have to do with ROK (Republic of Korea) as said before, it's a korean manga that was turned into a game in the same country. define: Ragnarok <-- the manga has to do with that. anyway, to stay more on topic, I am going to assume that SRS sending in my wanting to participate counts. |

The suggestion to send a couple of cards to other Mudcat friends is well-taken. Thanks for including the info. |
