Subject: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: The Shambles Date: 17 Sep 04 - 07:07 PM The idea of of putting the top two players together in the US team does seem to have backfired - so far anyway. It will be interesting if these two are chosen to play together again tomorrow. They did not play very well at all and this seems to have affected the rest of the US team. It was a very good day for the European team who lead by 6 and a half to 1 and a half points. |

Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: GUEST,Ard Mhacha Date: 19 Sep 04 - 09:37 AM At the moment Wee Brother I know a hell of a lot of top US golfers would agree, 11-6 going into the singles, but we`ll hold our fire until about 9-30 to-night and boy will we cheer, c`mon Europe. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: Steve Latimer Date: 19 Sep 04 - 10:36 AM It looks like another case of the U.S. looking better on paper. I think that the main reason the Europeans have been doing so well of late is that they are much more used to Match Play and it's various formats than the Americans are. Stroke play is by far the most common game played in North America. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: GUEST,Ard Mhacha Date: 19 Sep 04 - 04:45 PM Well done Europe, and it was left to Monty the marvel to seal vicory. Europe have now won proved themselves the masters at match play. Can`t wait to get my hands on to-morrows papers. Definitely a good walk ruined for the US. |

Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: Wolfgang Date: 21 Sep 04 - 05:38 AM One of the very few sports in which continents compete (actually I only know one other: track and fields). (There are enough sex sites over the web for all tastes, BTW) Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: GUEST Date: 21 Sep 04 - 05:43 AM Wolfgang be proud of Bernhard Langer a master captain, hope he remains in the post when the Ryder Cup comes to Ireland in 2006. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: The Shambles Date: 21 Sep 04 - 05:43 AM The way that the US captain in particular behaved in defeat was a lesson to everyone and and a fine example to set for future events - whoever may win. Hopefully this 2004 example will be followed in future to enable us to watch fine sportsman competing together - under the upmost pressure - without some of OTT reactions that have tended to spoil and over-shadow earler events. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: Wolfgang Date: 21 Sep 04 - 09:08 AM Thanks, Ard (if I guess correctly). We had to wait for a really good golf player since the invention of that game, I hope the next German world class player comes a bit sooner. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: BS: Ryder Cup 2004 From: GUEST Date: 21 Sep 04 - 01:15 PM Good guess Wolfgang, I thought for a minute you thought it was Gerry Adams, I am forever deleting Spam that I cannot be bothered to sign up. Yes, Bernhard is the perfect Captain, and he was always a class act on the Course. Hal Sutton certainly was humiliated to such an extent he had to take try and come across as the good sporting loser, this was in contrast to his arrogance on the opening day, strutting around with that silly looking stetson, and those speeches at the opening ceremony, cringeworthy again with your referring to 9-11, after all this is a sporting competition, not a bloody Republican convention |
