Subject: RE: BS: Please Welcome a New Folkie From: Tannywheeler Date: 29 Sep 04 - 02:31 PM Adorable little thing. Almost as beautiful as my granddaughters!! Blessings on the 3 of you. Start singing to her immediately, if not sooner. Get her used to several different kinds of "folk" music. It will sweeten her life. You know it's made yours better. You now begin learning: How many different things I can do with individual fingers, while holding the baby in both arms. The mind will boggle. How heavy? How long? How many fingers & toes? God, the stuff men forget to say. Tw |

Subject: RE: BS: Please Welcome a New Folkie From: Amergin Date: 30 Sep 04 - 02:09 AM Thanks everyone! Sorry I have not responded earlier. I have been quite busy with work and various phone calls and such. The mother is doing quite well, she cannot move much though. I spoke with her tonight. and we talked quite a while. Apparently she may not go home until Sunday or Monday. Jacinta is in a 24 hour watch to be sure everything is right. Apparently she was a little sick, which is normal for newborns, but is feeling alot better. She was born at 2210 on 29/09/04. She also came into this world like a Caesar ;). All reports are that she is absolutely gorgeous and so I hope she doesn't resemble me much...she would look odd with a beard. Jeanie went into the hospital @ 2000 Sunday evening to begin inducement due to various issues (high blood pressure and gestational diabetes) and for three days nothing was happening. They were giving her tablets every 6 hours then Tuesday they upped it to every 4 hours and still nothing happening. Finally, this morning (Oz time) they put her on a drip, which eventually caused her to be dilated enough to break the water. When I spoke to her prior to the birth, she started having contractions. Apparently Jacinta was too big they decided to do the c-section and they couldn't do a epidural (sp?) for some reason so they did a general, knocking her out. Meanwhile, Dad is still in Oregon getting his affairs in order so he may join his family. My debts are almost paid and should be paid within a month. Anyways, thank you everyone for your congrats! They are really appreciated. Nathan Tompkins proud father a true blue Ozzie! |

Subject: RE: BS: Please Welcome a New Folkie From: Amergin Date: 01 Oct 04 - 12:11 AM In the dawning of the world I dialed the phone To see if your life dawned as well Oh how I yearned to watch you And welcome you into this world And hold you rocking in my arms And sing to you. I still desire to hold you And softly whispper songs into your ear. Although I was not there I know you felt my love I know you saw me there Standing beside your lovely mother As you came into the world as a Caesar A shining empress, bathed in Heaven's light The time will come, my beautiful daughter, When we shall meet in person, not in spirit And I will hold you to my breast And teach you my magic, love, poetry, and song. nt |
Subject: RE: BS: Please Welcome a New Folkie From: CarolC Date: 01 Oct 04 - 12:16 PM I think you're going to love being a dad, Amergin. |
Subject: RE: BS: Please Welcome a New Folkie From: jack halyard Date: 02 Oct 04 - 06:57 AM From a father of two daughters, Your good health, mate. I sang mine to sleep when they were difficult with the most ribald sea shanties. Trouble was, I'd think they were out for the count, each being as limp as a wet dishcloth, and as soon as a head touched a pillow, the eyes would open and I'd be in for another twenty minutes of "cruising round yarmouth" and "blow the man down". Certainly traditional folk is an established part of both of their tastes. Sing to them, mate, and they're gonners! Warmest congratulations, Jack Halyard |
Subject: RE: BS: Please Welcome a New Folkie From: Dave the Gnome Date: 02 Oct 04 - 09:16 AM Lots of love and congratulations to you all from Lancashire:-) If your ever in England don't forget to visit Fleetwood where the Trawler JACINTA is part of our marine heritage. She hosts a concert or two at the Fylde Folk Festival every year so little Jacinta over there in NSW has a big folk name to live up to;-) Cheers Dave the Gnome |
