Subject: BS: my apologies - auction From: bet Date: 22 Oct 04 - 12:06 AM First off, I don't want this to become one of the back stabbing threads. I just want to say I'm sorry for not reading between the lines on the harp auction. I had no idea that there was a reserve bid and since I was the last bidder and hadn't heard from Peg I sent my payment of $90.00 to Max, then e-mailed Peg of what I had done. Apparently there was a $100.00 reserve bid. I did not see anything about that until today when I was e-mailed that I had done things wrong. I have always sent the payment to Max and had him send on the share to the seller. Anyway, I have asked Max to cancel my payment of $90.00, doesn't meet the reserve, and to forget the harp thing. I do enjoy supporting our Mudcat and the auction. I hope in the future auctions there will be better comunication. bet |
Subject: RE: BS: my apologies - auction From: wysiwyg Date: 22 Oct 04 - 11:34 AM Each Auction is handled differently. Sometimes people do it one way, sometimes they do it another way. It's free-form, no rules-- seller and buyer decide how to handle each item. That usually happens via PM. In the past, if there has been a minimum bid, the person posting the item has usually entered that themselves as the opening bid, if I recall right. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: my apologies - auction From: bet Date: 22 Oct 04 - 01:28 PM Thanks Susan. As you can see, Peg's opening bid was $50.00. bet |
Subject: RE: BS: my apologies - auction From: wysiwyg Date: 22 Oct 04 - 01:39 PM It is kinda confusing, but I would hope the two of you can work it out privately. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: my apologies - auction From: katlaughing Date: 22 Oct 04 - 02:19 PM I had sent a rough draft of FAQs on the auction for Jeff awhile back. I think they needed to be worked on a bit, but they might help to avoid this in the future. FWIW, I've always understood that the person putting the item up for auction should set the bid at the absolute minimum they want to receive for their item, at the beginning when they first enter the item. I think you've handle this well, bet. kat |
Subject: RE: BS: my apologies - auction From: Deckman Date: 22 Oct 04 - 02:29 PM Bet ... I agree with you in that something as SIMPLE as an auction item can get a little weird sometimes. As you know, I've been trying to help MC with income a bit, and as I recall, you purchased one of my auction books. Sounds to me that you did the best you could. CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson |
