I played the first time last year and tryed to get my Santa to play with me. He didn't. I still recieved many beautiful gifts and I was happy and excited in the final outcome, so if my Santa this year wants to play the same, he/she can

just go ahead, be an old stick in the mud, see if I care, don't make my day, don't make my month for that matter, just go on ahead and do your bah humbug thing, ....(smile)

And remember that there's a difference between giving your hints / letting you Santa/Santee exist versus joining in on the silly list regularly. Some of us don't do much "below the bar" but are still looking from pressies to send and receive.

Thanks for this thread Kat. I'm better off than some in the Santa department. My Santa has posted a whole 5 words- Wow! That's one better than last year. Last year's posted 4 words.

No my complaint is with a certain Santee (who is probably somebody's non-posting Santa). I see that in the last 3 years, he has never posted as a Santee - no hints, nothing. I have tried to cajole, threaten - even posted on a music thread of his - but he has ignored me completely. Makes you wonder why some people bother to be in it at all........

I try to give those silent ones the benefit of the doubt--not everyone is as effusive as some of us when it comes to expressing their wishes, though the game is a lot more fun when people share the experience by posting hints for all to see and guess at.

One hopes that if mis-matches have occurred (regular known squabblers, for example) that the party who finds themselves with a Santee they can't accomodate comfortably will let Liz know so an adjustment can be made!

Also, some people may not have figured out how to log out and be able to post anonymously by gping to the drop down menu at the top of the page and clicking on Log Out, then click on Go. After the logging out process is completed go to the thread you want to post into anonymously and make sure you hit Reload or what ever it is called in your browser so that your name disappears above the message.

Post your message, then don't forget to log back in again. You'll need to remember the password you gave when you first signed up to Mudcat.

And I think Santees who don't post should be presented with a lump of coal!

Mind you, I also get extra info on MY Santees by clicking on their name in the Santee Sign-on thread and seeing what they've talked about in past messages. Often gives a good idea of what they might like ...

I'm beginning to get worried about my Santee, Bee Dubya Ell. He's usually very vocal but hasn't been in the Cat since mid-September.

That was just after Hurricane Ivan and he was going back to Florida to see what was left in the aftermath. Since then - nothing.

Does anybody know if he's all right? Please.

Santas Executive Compiler of Secrets for this Year would like it known that there was only one instance of juggling (to prevent a duplication of last years' Santee) and that so far no-one has formally complained about their Santees (except one but she's only 8 so tough titty). Therefore, there will be no substitutions.

I've done my bit, it's now up to each individual Santa and Santee to post hints, goads, treats, clues, threats or promises if they so desire. Nothing to do with me.... nope, you're on yer own.... I ain't yer mommies.... I just juggles the names up sisters.....

Sian, I actually did find socks impregnated with mint, lavender, citrus etc. in the supermarket the other day. No licorice that I could see. They're stealing my ideas! Next it will be the musical underwear. Joy

I have been busy traveling these last few weeeks, but am now ready to start Santafying in a serious manner. Being this close to the North Pole, Santafying comes quite naturally. Got to find a way to hide the post marks though, hmmmm.

having just become a Mudcat member, but having been visiting for a few monhts... is it too late to get in on this? I do not celebrate christmas myself (I am a Christian, however) so I don't need a Santa...but I don't mind being somebody's "Winter friend" as opposed to their "Santa". If that's okay, I'd love to get somebody not from the USA who is still without a Santa. I love Mudcat and Mudcatters and would be thrilled to have the opportunity to send some presents to a fellow folkie. I'd look at it as an opportunity to get to know another Mudcatter so long as they don't mind me not doing the Christmas thing.
