boy,talk about sour grapes!!!! edwards rant and raged during the concession period wednedsday morning!
i didnt vote for them,but kerry was a very gracious and humble person about his loss!edwards needs to learn a thing or two!GLAD HE'S GONE!!!TOUGH TITTY,JOHN!!!!

I watched Kerry's speech on the telly, i thought he was going to burst into tears at one point! How could you hope to defeat the French with a President who cries all the time? At least Bush doesn't blub!

I just heard Kerry on the radio and it was a very good speech. I think he might have made a good president, but came in with too much baggage to win, and he probably has an important role to play as elder statesman etc. mg

He came in with too much character and intellectual capacity. Bush worked very hard to cut Kerry down to his own level (called the "lowest common denominator"). As usual, red_clay, you're way out in right field--Edwards' speech was quite good, no sour grapes at all.

I didn't hear Edwards' speech, but if he was out of sorts it might have been because, in addition to losing the election, his wife has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Not a good week for that family. I hope all goes well for them.

Edwards was preparing the faithful for the next fight. Think of it as the first speech for the 2008 campaign. He's a politician, that's what politicians do.

It was Kerry's place to try to reach out to the other side and try to heel the wounds. Its clear that Bush isn't interested in what the other side thinks, though he did give lip service to cooperation.

JOhn Edwards---sorry to say I did not hear his speech--but I did catch Cheney---gloating with pure evil glinting in his eye. Talk about "sore winners"---only 1 notch up from Dubya.

Kerry and Edwards, by rights, should not have conceded so early. Ohio may be a lost cause, but Florida wasn't. Almost 40% of the state voted absentee -- way more "open" votes than would be needed to make up the "official" Nov. 2 margin -- and those votes would HAVE to have been counted if the Democrats demanded it.

Even if the absentee votes didn't give Kerry the win, it might have tipped the Senate race to the Democrats, or maybe some Congressional races.

I wish NO candidate would officially concede till ALL the ballots were counted. The voters deserve that.

I think Jack's right on this one. Edwards was just firing the first salvo in the 2008 campaign. His way of letting the Democratic leadership know that he is available to run for the top spot next election. Of course Kerry may be in the race again too. As well as Hillery, Howard Dean, Al Sharpton, Al Gore, etc., etc., etc.

he tried his best to get it covered up someway...even tried to get his buddies to cover for him!!!don't remember???...well it was JULY 1969...the same day that neil armstrong landed on the moon!!!!how soon we forget!

Well, I heard John Edwards speech and thought, giving the circumstances, was a decent speech. Heu look, therre is no "mandate" here, just as there was no mandate when Bush lost the lection 2000, so what is the opposition party supposed to do?

So now it's time for the Dem fraternity to figure out how to chip away at the 3% of the voting population to see how they can chip away at the margin. Energizing your folks is a given 'casue those folks represent yer 48% and you can't just tell them to go home, lay out by the street with their feet in the air like a dead dog.

Fir anyone who has followed American politics for any lenght of time, Edwards speech falls into the Campaigns 001, a non credit remedial course in politics to get one up to the knowledge level of the average animal cracker...

I heard both speeches and thought Edwards sounded very good. IF any of you thought otherwise, maybe you were *picking* up on the fact that his wife, Elizabeth, had just received news, that day, that she has breast cancer. I wish them well.
