Subject: RE: BS: Cat litter cake, definatley BS From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 15 Nov 04 - 01:05 AM Reminds me of the cake my mother-in law once made for my son's 11th or 12th birthday. It wasn't anything fancy, just a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. She baked it at her house and then drove to our place for the birthday party, but somewhere along the way she had to slam on the car's brakes and the cake went flying. When she arrived at our house she scraped the mess out of the cake box onto a platter, went into my son's room and got the tennis-shoe shaped ceramic coin bank she had given him the year before, and planted it squarely in the chocolate mess on the platter. It looked precisely like someone had stepped in a really huge cowpie. The kids thought it was the greatest birthday cake they'd ever seen. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cat litter cake, definatley BS From: Carly Date: 15 Nov 04 - 05:17 PM I blush to admit, I have actually witnessed, and indeed, tasted, a kitty litter cake. You may be surprised (or maybe not) to learn that this confection was served at a party at Pinewoods Camp during Folk Music Week two or three summers ago. The party theme was junk food delights; a high point of the festivities was a Velveeta-carving contest. Great fun and indigestion was had by all--and, yes, the cake did look, er, realistic. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cat litter cake, definatley BS From: Liz the Squeak Date: 15 Nov 04 - 05:53 PM At Limpit's hallowe'en party we had brain sandwiches (egg mayonnaise with black food colouring to turn it grey), eyeball cakes (small cakes with white icing, red icing blood vessels and glace cherry eyeballs... used different colour cherries so got dead dog eye and dead cats eyes too...) Then there was the moudly quiche - just ordinary quiche with a few drops of green food colouring, and werewolf poop - chocolate coated caramel and biscuit bits..... It looked pretty good, but I wish I'd seen the litter tray cake - it would have been fun to try and confuse the 3 cats! LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Cat litter cake, definatley BS From: Blissfully Ignorant Date: 16 Nov 04 - 03:05 PM I made a jelly swamp for my brother's birthday party... I put all different colours of jelly mixed together on a big flat plate, and put in some jelly frogs (we had jelly frog moulds) and some insect-shaped sweets. Disgusting little brats loved it! I had to make it again next year...:0) |
