There's two types of opinionated folk...one is SURE they are right about everything, and will hear NO argument to the contrary..

The other has confidence, up to a point, but uses discussion to compare and learn, and sometimes... *gasp*... changes what they think after listening to other's opinions.

One guess which type is more common.

Does being around longer mean that we know more and more? Surely at some point the memory banks become full and as we can't extend them we must have to lose some of the old stuff in order to get the new stuff on. The problem is, is this a random or selective process? Would you consciously delete the recipe for egg and chips in order to learn the names of every Prime Minister since John Major? Which is the more important?

I was almost wrong once, but I realized before I wrote the equation on the board in class that a sequence of primes was irrelevant and that I should use a matrix incorporating the atomic weights of the isotopes of fluorine instead. I mean, it would have worked the other way as well, but the solution wouldn't have been quite as elegant. Sister Mary Curie nominated my solution for a Nobel Prize in Physics, but I wasn't even considered because of academic envy and because I wasn't yet out of third grade, even though I was 27 at the time.
