hope - keeping my job (in it's current format, I hasten to add) until I retire in 2 years.

THEY (the Directors & my Manager) are talking about closing the library as most info comes from electronic sources, and moving the essential older stuff that isn't available electronically into a compactus. My supervisor is very annoyed that I haven't been told anything offically as half my job involves dealing with the physical collection.

I won't be out on the job queue, as the other half in not connected with the library, but my day could easily be filled by sending me back to our call centre & I won't work there again.

grumble aside - musically, I dream that my folk club gets full houses every month, as does the mini-festival in May, so the artists get lots of money!!

I appreciate the thread title-- cuz I was focusing more on 2006. OK, I'll keep it to myself.

My hopes and dreams for 2005 are for health, happiness, and many blessings for those I love and care about, and for me. (And for everyone else as well.)

Having just yesterday posted my goals to Flatpick-L (guitar flatpicking list), it's easy enough to cut and paste:

1) Lose about 15 pounds. (I need to lose 25 or 30, but let's try for something that's reasonable in one year.)

2) Get the most common dozen or so fiddle tunes up to jamming speed, with the ability, not to make no mistakes - that's too much to ask - but to recover when I make them without getting utterly lost.

3) Learn swing chords to back up the most common tunes that I'm totally sick of the standard chords for.

4) Get back in some semblance of shape - say, so I can jog five miles at about 12-minute pace without any walking breaks.

5) Learn the audio software well enough that I can get the worth-saving part of my old vinyl collection cleaned up and moved to CDs.

Seems like little enough to ask...

Peter

World peace. No, seriously, world peace...
It's impossible to say that without sounding like a Miss World contestant, isn't it? Personally, i'd rather look like one...but there you go :0)

Hope you all have a wonderful 2005.

2005 sounds strange. I still keep writing 2001 on forms...

Well I just hope that it's not as bad as the one before it, nor any worse than the one ahead of it..... It's been a really crappy millennium so far..... sometimes I get the feeling the world really did end and it's just sheer bloodymindedness that's kept us going on with life, when in reality, it's just a big smoking blob in the ether....

Happy little sod aren't I?

my wishes are that the people close to me are well and happy.

my practical hopes for this year are to somehow buy a house.

LTS, i have had many years of that hard slog. the last couple of years seem to have gone very well. I'm looking forward to more of that, and hoping it gets spread around a bit.

My hope is that 2005 is far better than 2004 or the end of 2003. But that's out of my control, so my wish for myself is to look up, not down, at the horizon, not my shoes, with hope, not despair.

It's been a hard, rocky slog, with all kinds of slings and arrows, but my dear friends and family (including Mudcatters), my music, my geographical community, and the surprising emergence of dear old friends from the distant past, are giving me hope for the future.

LTS, my heart is with you. One of my hopes is that you and I can raise a pint together this summer! I'll say no more on the subject until the tickets are bought...

Allison

To try to remember that life doesn't revolve around me and to share the good things I have been blessed with, with others.
