As a follow up to the "police state" thread, I see that Blair has refused to rule out the use of the new "anti- terror" legislation against protesters at the G8 summit at Gleneagles Hotel in July.

If any one doubted Blairs duplicity, its now becoming obvious that the scarmongering over an Islamic terrorist attack was simply an electioneering ploy, with the added advantage of getting some new control legislation onto the statute book.

Be warned, these scum are dead scared of protest and direct action, and will remove the civil rights from even the most conservative of us to hang onto power.

If there ever was any semblance of democracy in the UK, its gone.
Iv been asking mudcatters and others to join the G8 protests for some time and now it looks more important than ever...Ake

Why did you think the legislation was introduced in the first place? I give up. It's a cycle within an illusion, and when they come for me in jackboots i'll be laughing....cos i get the cosmic joke.....and they don't:0)

Don't worry too much Ake, cos Toady Blair has become so fixated on his "right hand man" position to the GWB (Great World Bully) that he has rather lost sight of the domestic position. We read in one paper today, that his own colleagues are afraid that the Tories will "steal the election", this from a leaked document. Suffice to say that a seriously reduced majority seems very likely, and this would curtail the ability to railroad through his more objectionable policies.

If the opinion polls underestimated Tory support to the same extent as last election (they predicted Tories in third place, and missed by 8%), a Tory win is not impossible, though they might well not have sufficient majority for a viable government.

Toady seemingly hasn't realised as yet just what a walking catastrophe he has been, and still is, for the British Labour Party. The reduced majority [at best] is a certainty, and the responsibility for that must lie at the Blare front door. Electoral disaster would be inevitable for the Labour administration but for one odd circumstance; there is a multitude out there which will vote "Labour" simply on the grounds that "Labour" will be the label applied. They still don't get the fact that T.B. is no more "Labour" than Ted Heath. How many have heard Our Lady Thatcher complain about his performance? He has been a perfect protege as far as she is concerned! Who in their right mind could conceive of a real Labour prime minister being so cloyingly attached to the tail-end of the likes of Bush?

T Blair is only short term. If he wins this election, he will be gone if the Euro referendum is lost or, at any rate, before the 2009 election.

We should be looking now at who (and what sorta party) will succeed him and not always become transfixed on the here and now - as happened to the Tories with their Maggie.

My guess. Labour win most seats, but with a very small, or no majority. Blair knows he cannot win a referendum on the Euro, so will resign within a few dys of the election, so he can take his place in history.

I'll not say as what, we all have opinions on that....

We should be looking at who will replce him. Any of the realistic options would be an improvement. Howard, Brown, a few other labour front benchers possibly. A hung parliment might drive some real compromise and discussion on important legislation, as it would had to be acceptable to two main parties to get through.

Threatening the G8 protestors is not a threat to democracy. An over-reaction, yes, but there has been enough people set on violence at the previous protests to excuse measures like this.
If those who oppose Him are undoubtly peaceful, then Blair will try all sorts of smears and tricks, but locking them up without charge? Not yet anyway.

Previous hung, or minute majority governments, do not engender optimism about more compromise and discussion. Far more likely that Toady will follow past example, and promise the LibDems proportional representation, and other incentives, to gain their support. Given that they hate Tories much more than ersatz Tories (New Labour), experience suggests that they might again be stupid enough to believe promises which will disappear like scotch mist, the minute he no longer needs them.

I seriously believe that people are finally beginning to understand the lie of "democracy", and how it is used.
No matter where it is practiced, "democracy" is simply a tool of power and control. Whether it be Bush in USA, Sistani in Iraq, or Western interests in Eastern Europe.

Lets hope the electorate give the thumbs down to politicians of all current persuasions, maybe then we can move away from the power ideology and make human happiness and fulfillment more important.

What is interesting to me is that one of the few protests that I see as being worth anything is that directed at G8. These bastards are the playboys and playgirls of this world. Their agenda is enslavement and their target is ALL people. Bastards. Capitalist bastards, all of 'em.
