Right, listen up people!

Yesterday a lovely book was launched by a great singer, pipe bag maker and all round great fella Jackie Boyce, sometimes seen posting here on Mudcat.

Jackie's book is called "Songs of the County Down", and as the title might suggest, it's full of songs - and notes about them - of that very place. Some 'catters have already sneaked a look at the book during the Loughstock III gathering in Portaferry at the start of February. Well, now they - and the rest of yous - can get yourselves your very own copy. Here's the link:

Jackie is one of my favourite singers, probably because I've been listening to him since the day I was born. I'm incredibly biased because he's my uncle, but even without the blood ties, I'd be ordering this book straightaway!

Congratulations, Unlce Metal-Detector - I'm very proud of you!

There are some around here that would try to tell you we only have one song in County Down. Way-to-go Jackie and I for one will be ordering very shortly. Is it also available in stores Fibs? I couldn't tell from the link you gave.

There is a book by Cathal O'Doyle, "Songs of County Down," seemingly out-of print.' Almost the same title.
Will the book by Boyce be marketed in North America?

Kate, would you consider lugging a copy to France for us to have a look?

Kate, Could you possibly list the titles of the songs? I'd like to add the book to a song indexing project I am working on.

The book is indeed available in the shops, in Norn Iron anyway. Suzanne - I still don't know if I can make the Eurogathering, but even if I can't I'll try and get a copy of the book there!

karen k - I'm still awaiting my copy (these authors spend ages mulling over inscriptions!) but when it arrives, if Jackie is okay with it, I could list the titles. He might even list them himself if we ask him nicely!
