Patrick also worked with Gerard De Smaele on a documentary called "ABanjo Frolic" for an exhibition of the five-string banjo at The Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels from October 15, 2003 to February 15, 2004. There has been a limited amount of duplicates made of the documentary but I suspect that Patrick and Gerard will want to put this out on DVD someday. It is a must-see for five-string banjo enthusiasts. It was of a journey that the two men took from Atlanta, GA through Washington DC, Western Carolina, Blue Ridge Mountains, Smokies and Appalachia visiting players and banjo makers. Peggy Seeger, Geoff Stelling, Laura Boosinger, Mike Seeger, Alan Jabbour, Pete Seeger, Doc Watson, Reed Martin, J.P. Fraley and others.

Patrick is very talented and a fine person.

Frank

Gerard has a nice CD out of Appachian banjo songs done Brussel's style. He is a devotee of old-time banjo.

Burntstump, not played on the radio as far as I know.

Deborah, nice to see you on Mudcat. When I knew Derroll,
in the 1950's, don't think you came along yet. It was just Gregorio when Derroll was married to Liz.

There was a whole lot of time past when he was in Europe
that we were not in touch. But I remember the times we had with Woody Guthrie when Derroll was part of our group, Dave Zeitlin, Marcia Berman, Sid Berland, Odetta, Jo Mapes, Herb Cohen, Ed Pearl, and his sister Bernice, Ed Michel, Adam Yadgadka and Ry Cooder. Bess and Butch Hawes, Will and Herta Geer were also around at the time. I think Derroll wound up in one of Will's productions out of his theater in Topanga Canyon.

Jack came along later and the two went to Europe.

Hello All, My name is Greg Adams [Gregorio]. I'm one of Derroll Adams sons. This is to Frank Hamilton. I have a slight memory of you, and Topanga Canyon. I must have been about two and a half or three. Any way my mother Elizabeth said to say hi to you. You were the favorite of all Derroll's Friends. She said that the last time she saw you that you must have been 18. And that you were the best musician around Topanga at that time. My sister Deborah wrote in to Mudcat and I think you thought, she wasn't around yet, That it was just myself and Liz. But she was. First there was Scotty, Mark, Debborah, Myself, and Tamera. This is at least on the U.S. side of the world. Anyway I would very much like to see the film I was born in Portland town. As I had not seen my father since a child. Patrick told Tamera that he would get all of us copies of the movie. And I am looking forward to it. Also I would like to thank all of the people that responded to my sister Tamera's letter a while back. and made it possiable for us to get intouch with most of the family... Thank you all, Greg

Hi Gregorio,

Patrick F. just brought me a copy of the film about your dad and it was very moving. Please say hi to your mom for me, she may remember me. I was Ramblin' Jack Elliott's wife and responsible for bringing Derroll to Europe many years ago. I remember you as a little boy in Topanga Canyon. I just took Patrick and his family to Topanga last weekend and we visited Will Geer's place after lunch.

I live in Los Angeles and you can write me at:Juneymoon@msn.com

Best,

June Shelley
