Inspired by a question on another thead. Thanks LtS.

What is the point of flavoured condoms?

Anybody else got any of those things that just make you go "Why?" on their mind?

Also, those 'baby on board' signs in cars. What are they supposed to do? Are you going to choose to crash into another car, rather than that one because of a sign? Or do thye just wish to tell everybody about their sex life?

Just posted this to the another thread but is better suited here

flavoured condoms have their place. I once worked in an organisation that was involved with a sex workers project - As a major proportion of their work was oral sex the usual condoms with spermicide were pretty unpleasant. I once spent a very bizarre afternoon condom tasting to get the best flavour, a bit like wine tasting - well not very much like wine tasting really - but you get the picture!

PS Mint was the best !

I always thought the beer flavoured ones sounded revolting! As someone who has blown flavoured comdoms up as baloons (really don't ask!) I have to say that the strawberry ones are best, although none are great.

Back on topic...
I wonder what the point of artificial sweeterner is. It dosn't taste like sugar and is actually worse for you!
Why not just use honey?

At the time I wondered why my teetotaler friend & her temperance group drank alcohol-free wine. And I still do wonder. Alcohol free wine apparently includes a tiny % of alcohol. Why not just have fruit juice/cola/tea/coffee etc.

and my dieting friends who ate sugarless jam, sweets, desserts etc. Why?

Sugarless usually means high fat which is just as bad for someone who wants to change their eating habits.

Meat flavoured/shaped vegetarian products..... Why?

I was veggie for several years and could never understand why people who chose not to eat meat, then went out of their way to make meat flavoured and shaped products... beef flavoured soy product, chicken flavoured soy strips, drumstick shaped nut loaf....

Why?

I seem to remember a conversation with Matti about the most popular flavours sold at the Borough Arms in Chippenham but I can't remeber what they were.

Man comes home from the pub and asks his missus if she fancies trying the new chocolate flavour condoms he has bought. She's very enthusiastic and soon he is lay on the bed with a satisfied look on his face. Looking up after a minute she complains "These are not chocolate! More like cheese and pickle."

"I've not put it on yet" he replies...

Hi Manitas - did not spend too much time in the Borough - was Rosie boy myself. Do not remember a machine in there!

Mint was defo superior to others - lack of nonoxynol 9 making it less bitter / unpleasant.

I am sure that we have had this conversation before!

As one who is insulin resistant -- anything that is metabolized into glucose. That includes fructose, honey, "natural" syrups, sugars of all sorts and origins. I use Splenda, when I use anything "unnatural", because saccarhine leaves a bad aftertaste and everything else either gives me a headache or gas.

But about those speed limit signs during rush hour....

I don't see the point of the "self-checkout lanes" at the grocery store. It seems to me that all they do is deprive someone of an entry level job and make more profits for some corporation.

Both, Carol C. But I've remarked on the stupidity of a sign that says "Speed Limit 65 mph" when I've been sitting in the same spot for an hour.

But going under the speed limit is perfectly ok. Speed limit signs only specify the maximum speed you're supposed to go. They don't tell you that you shouldn't go below the speed limit. And all of the driver's handbooks say you should drive as fast as the speed limit allows only if it is safe to do so under current traffic and/or weather conditions. Otherwise, you're supposed to drive slower than the speed limit. That would, I assume, include rush hour traffic.

You mean when girls are acting like they are really upset and they fan themselves? I always assumed they were cooling themselves down so they didn't faint. I don't think I've ever seen someone do that when they actually were emotional, just when they were pretending to be.

Shopping lists, unless they are actuallly written on your arm so you don't lose them within seconds.

BTW Don, if I remember correctly, and this isn't just an old folk myth, any consecrated ground, such as a graveyard, has to be seperated off from normal ground for it to be consecrated.
If it's true, ever was true, church law or secular law, I don't know, but I remember it from somewhere. And it would make sense. Stops people disturbing the dead accidentilly.

I wonder what is the point of The Sun (the paper, not the giant ball of superheated gas). KIt is certainly not to impart news, and the soft porn angle is largely covered by the internet now!

On the subject of changing speed limit signs, anyone ever driven on the Aston express way? 6 lanes and the middle 2 not only used to change speed limit but CHANGE DIRECTION depending on the time of day! Dunno if they still do it. Haven't been back to try it. Too scary for me:-)

Toothache? Look at all the machinery it takes -- root canal, special nerves. What possible good did all that do under the conditions in which it evolved? How did we respond to the resulting urgent signals when we were trotting around the African savannah, or swinging from trees, or whatever? Resolve to go to the dentist if we lived another 10^7 years? Those who believe in Providence rather than evolution have, IMO, some even fancier explaining to do.

Because blind people can and DO walk up to drive through tellers... Also Drive-Through ATMs are made from the same 'parts' as any other ATM... Why bother making a whole different set of keys with NO brail on them?

white spots on the fingernails are due to zinc deficiency. Cold weather dosn't have a point, but if Scotland was warm then the wildcats would be too hot in their thick furry coats! So maybe cold weather in Scotland is to keep the wildcats happy.
The rest of the UK has no excuse.
