Subject: Northumbrian Pipes From: Webby Date: 10 Dec 98 - 03:19 AM I'm thinking of learning the Northumbrian Pipes.I play Whistles and i'm wondering if i will find it confusing, as the method of fingering is different. Has anyone got any advise. |
Subject: RE: Northumbrian Pipes From: alison Date: 10 Dec 98 - 08:39 AM Hi Webby, Not sure about Northumbrian, but uilleann piping fingering is completely different to the whistle (so I assume Northumbrian is too). There are books available to help you learn. Slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Northumbrian Pipes From: Jo Taylor Date: 11 Dec 98 - 06:06 PM I tried playing a friend's set once and when you have more than one hole open all the air rushes out in one whoosh! - rather disconcerting if you're used to a whistle...no, they're not the same! |
