From: Mr Happy

To avoid further off topic drift in the Galloway thread, I'm initiating a fresh one.

The Conservative Party in UK will soon be leaderless when Michael Howard abdicates.

Who do you think would make an appropriate successor?

I've a couple of nominees already;

There's a certain A. Bliar who'll also soon be redundant, surely he'd be an ideal candidate for the position!

Also, as we'll need someone sympathetic to our culture & folk traditions, there's a couple of contenders there too.

There's Michael Ancram, who's been seen in public [on TV] playing acoustic guitar; and who can ever forget the magnificent performance by John Redwood of his version of the Welsh National Anthem!

Indescribable!!

Amen to that Les.

As for A. B. Liar (how apt! a b******g liar indeed), I would suggest he would make a good bonnet ornament for Gordon Brown's Limo.

My vote (if I had one, which I don't) is for Oliver Letwin. Just to make doubly sure they're unelectable.

When you say "Next Tory Leader - Who?"

Are you referring to the current actor in that role, i.e. Christopher Eccleston, or one of the surviving previous Doctors?

Nigel

This needs a song to keep it up this end of the forum, and here's a very appropriate one for all Tory party leaders (including the one in charge of the Labour Party at present):

Goodbye-ee, Goodbye-ee,
Wipe the tear, baby dear, from your eye-ee
Tho' it's hard to part, I know,
I'll be tickled to death to go,
Don't cry-ee, don't sigh-ee,
There's a silver lining in the sky-ee!
Bon Soir, old thing! Cheerio! Chin-Chin,
Nah-Poo, Toodle-oo, Goodbye-ee

Yeah, but it's not enough to keep the thread up top.
    -Joe Offer-

Thanks, Nigel - I was cudgelling my brains to remember the lyrics. Copyright 1918 I see - I'd always thought it was from the Boer War, like Goodbye Dollie Gray.

Well, the thread title does suggest a certain doctor, but they seem to be lasting even less time than a Tory leader currently.

I don't know who, but someone who can challange Gordon Brown, and his fixation on taking as much of our money as possible, and maybe giving some back, if we fill in the right forms and they're not lost by a rapidly expanding system that makes the Vogon civil service seem efficient.
I just hope it takes less than a recession and house price crash to see how much damage the Chancellor has done.
