**Sigh** Alas...a long term band collaboration for me has just dissolved due to that old monster of the music community, a.k.a. "creative differences". As in, we were rapidly devolving into a 3 chord rock/pop band. So....I quit....guess I'm terminally uncool.

Guess I should go write a song about it. Till then, back to open mike night for me....

Well, you've always got to "do whatcha wanna." I hope you are not giving up any significant income that you might miss ~ that's the only good reason I can imagine for you perhaps having regrets after the fact.

The sooner you get back into the "spotlight" as a soloist, even at the humblest kind of open mike night, the sooner your chances of finding a new and better situation, either as a solo act in a paying venue or as part of a new and better-for-you group.

That's right, back on the horse! You'll attract like-minded players by hitting the bricks instrument in hand. Collaborations need not be permanent anyway (I've got several intermittent ones myself). Guesting is fun too, sitting in, jamming, and inviting musician friends to join YOUR act for one-offs. Refocus on you and your stuff and have fun with it.

Peace and good luck, Mooh.

I read something this last month ... I don't recall where I found it ... but it referred to "ROCK" as the cancer of music! Rings accurate with me. Best wishes, Bob(deckman)Nelson

well theres this song that'll cheer you up called The Dowie Dens of Yarrow. By the time you've learned it there'll probably be another president, the longest thread in the world will be into six figures and Martin Gibson will be the new envoy to the UN.

You'll feel like Sam Goldwyn when he said, we've all passed a lot of water since then.....

Don't get even, get a solo act!

It sounds like it was a good thing to break up--good for you, that is. This now becomes an opportunity for you to grow and to find more of yourself. Seize it!

Don't worry about it.

As Woody Guthrie once said, "if you know and play more than 2 chords, you're showing off."

Find an audience that appreciates a good show off. :-)

I like your style, RoseInBloom. Have you ever commanded your significant other to cheer you up when you were sad? Did it work any better for you than it did for me?

M.

Whenever I need cheering - I reflect upon the lyrics of:

The worms crawl in

The worms crawl out

They eat your gizzards

And spit them out

OOOHHHHH, ooohhhhh, ooooohhhh,    ooohhhhhh

Where will we be in a hundred years from now?

We have most of eternity to pal around with Shakespeare and his morbid (rightfully so) Hamlet.

Why be morose, before you are a corpse?

Sincerely,

Gargoyle

but you can't beat ..

Sad Movies always make me cryyy.. Cryyy(Deep Voice)

..Said he had to work so I went to the show alone
They turned down the lights and turned the projector on
And just as the news of the world started to begin
I saw my darling and my best friend walk in

So I was sitting where they didn't see
And so they sat right down infront of me
And when he kissed her lips I almost died
and in the middle of the color cartoon I started to cry

OOO.......
Sad movies always make my cry
OOO.......
Sad movies always make me cry

And so i got up and slowly walked on home
My momma saw the tears and asked what's wrong
And so to keep form telling her a lie
I just said sad movie always make me cry

OOO.......
Sad movies always make me cry
OOO.......
Sad movies always make me cry ryy......ryy.....!

There is always some sadness when a band breaks up. You've had good times together, rehearsed together, played together, travelled together. I'm in the midst of a similar situation myself. But there were certain band members that just weren't up to par musically and weren't making any effort to improve. I was irritated because I like to "push the limits" a little bit, musically - and stretch myself with different material sometimes. They were content to plug away at the same old songs that required no effort. They picked up on my frustration although I didn't say anything directly - but they felt it, and it caused tension. I've just told them I'm leaving the group. They are not happy, because I was responsible for most of our bookings and was the lead singer, and they'll need to find someone else who can fulfil those requirements if they're going to continue as a group. It's bittersweet, but I've gigged solo before and I look forward to meeting and performing with other musicians I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet and jam with had I stayed in the original group. Good luck!

Howdy guys-
Well, I'm feeling much better, did open mike last night, jammed with some folks for a while. So nice to be back in the style of music I actually LIKE! So thanks for the kind words.

(BTW, I'm out in California, land of fruits, nuts and unemployed PhD Psychologists)

May be it's a matter of perspective - sad endings or new beginnings? Half full or half empty? Although I like that song freda - best dragged out over very bad wine, an even worse pub or some other inappropriate place with the sort of mates around who encourage sorry self-indulgence - for one night only - then kick your bum because they know just how good you are! Go for the new beginning Rose in Bloom!

Doctor when I pee it comes out of holes down my Willy.
Take this number this guy may help.
Is he a specialist
No a clarinet player he will teach you how to hold it.

You see you think you are sad, others have larger problems than you.
Cheer up my friend and make everybody happy.

NEW SAYING STARTING TODAY

"I AM A HAPPY FOLK SINGER LET ME CHEER YOU UP"

Al
