Volunteered for the Army on my Birthday
They draft the white trash here around here anyway
Done two tours of Viet Nam
And I came home with a brand new plan
Take the seed from Columbia and Mexico
And plant 'um in the holler down Copperhead Road....

By my calculations, three fifths of five eigths of fuck all... some land, sunshine and water. Why do these money grabbing pricks want to screw over the sick?

I haven't 'smoked dope' in years and years, but I don't begrudge any who do... especially the sick. Why do they do this when it's actually free?

Also, why do they want people to not get high from the stuff? Seems like the worst of the Puritan ethic combined with the worst of pharmaceutical company greed. A bad combination indeed.

Just curious about current costs. It's been a looonnngg time, and the only pricing I know of is what I heard in the film, "American Beauty." It was way beyond what my allowance could have borne (back when I had one and was spending it on weed). Drrriiiffffttttt.

Ya know. I am kinda curious too. Perhaps it's the smart shopper in me. I scan all the adverts for bargains and clip coupons. But, I haven't bought any green for about 25 years. Just not politically correct anymore. These days, it Budweiser, in cans.

Back then, an oz of Gold or Red hair or Wowie was around $Cdn65. A gram of Blonde was $15 and ordinary Black was $12. A vial of Halifax Incinerator (don't ask, Honey Oil was the other name) was $20. A Thai stick was $5. Thai stick.... $1.50 each for a good three or four hours, and ONE beer costs more today. I assume there might have been an increase?

I really don't expect any answers... just ruminating.

There's a very cool book with a section about MaryJane called "The Botany of Desire, A Plant's-Eye View of the World," by Michael Pollan. It discusses four plants--potatoes, marijuana, tulips and apples--that the author feels have had a mutually beneficial relationship with humans: the plants possess qualities that humans want, that then cause humans to fulfil the plants' desires to be fruitful and multiply by cultivating them hither and yon. The marijuana section details the way the U.S. "War on Drugs" caused growers to develop infinitely more potent cannabis than anything anyone smoked in the sixties. It's way more costly, too, but say whaaa, I don' know.

These days, strong black tea must suffice. The good stuff is way expensive, alas.

Have you checked the price of drug store drugs? Some of the fairly common drugs run $150-300 for 10 or 20--insurance picks up all but 20-30 bucks for them that has it--not everyone does, though--

A little bit of BC bud is damned expensive too, an ounce from what I'm told, will run you $100 bucks. But, it should at least last a long time, although I don't know how much would be required for someone who is self medicating for pain control assciated with MS.

Remember that the guys who are growing the stuff here aren't doing it because they are your friend either, it all boils down to big bucks. If need be, grow your own.

petr, if you're in Vancouver or vicinity, it was probably seaweed. Vancouverites LOVE to sell their seaweed to any sucker on the street!

And here in Ontario, bona-fide BC (or any other locally grown) bud costs about $70-80/quarter oz. Expensive yes, but a LOT cheaper than being charged with cultivation! And less stressful than watching ... and wondering ... and worrying about those black / camoflauge helicopters constantly circling overhead .... with their infrared scanners ... and their sub-machine guns ... and their face-painted hopped up crew ...courtesy of yourself, as a taxpayer of course!

(Not that angels like myself have any first-hand knowledge or experience of such horrid, despicable crimes ... oh no .... not me!)

Here's a link to GUEST's page ... (you forgot the "www." GUEST)

CANADA - ONTARIO
Cambridge:
Bubblegum Hydro: C$150
Mississauga:
Hydro Skunk: C$180
Toronto:
Romulan: C$250
AK-47: C$250
BC Big Bang: C$250

The first couple prices quoted for Ont are WAY too low. (Maybe the writers are WAY too high)?

The last 3 are more like it. And by the way, what's "Romulan"???   Didn't think we had Federation approval to import ANYTHING from the Romulans! And what about AK-47? Sounds like some US warplane!

And BC "Big Bang"? HA HA HA!!! Pretty colourful but hey, it's always been plain ole ordinary "BC pot" or "BC bud" around here. According to my usual unreliable sources, of course.

This applies to every person retiring in the "Baby Boom" generation in the US and the vestidual empire of Great Britain. We all feel your pain, because it is our pain too. Bush's imperilous war in Iraq has bankrupted all of us for generations to come. The "Downing Street Minutes" confirm all our worst suspicions.

You may be one of the lucky ones when Blair and Bush get through with this scam!

Can't be too careful when 'fessing up to illegal activity...

Here ~ in the US, far from BC ~ good weed is ridiculously more expensive than it was back in the good old days, but then again the product is ridiculously more potent. Allowing for inflation, it's probably just about right.

$375 a month for pot that does NOT get you high seems pretty exorbitant, and the price of Marinol is just crazy.

Two weeks ago, my wife bought an EIGHTH of an ounce for $50, and it's just about gone as of last night. That's $100/month for two people, equal to or less than regular drinkers spend on six-packs, way less than regular drinking in a bar, and certainly less than the cost of smoking cigarettes.

Of course, we're very stingy, indulging quite sparingly. If you use a "one-hitter" pipe and hold it when you inhale, almost no second-hand smoke escapes and is wasted. You're turned on for the next hour or more, with no need to burn up any more of that expensive herb. Rolling joints is too extravagant these days; you burn up twice as much product to inhale a given volume of smoke.

Dear Guest,
This is not about the price of weed mate! This is about the cost of living in the "free?" world for people who can't retire. If weed is still your main thing, you will be better off smoking weed than smoking tobacco!

Sincerely.

A "one-hitter pipe"? Though maybe you were talking about baseball, didn't seem right, so I googled and
just found out otherwise.   Kinda pretty!

And check out this Volcano Vaporizer, highly recommended by your loving gov't to save your lungs from 2nd hand smoke. A friend of mine uses one - he bought it last year for $800 Cdn. He says it paid for itself in a couple months.

Wow! Think I'd rather spend the $800 on a plane ticket to Hawaii, and get off on some REAL volcanos!

PS Dont tell anyone I tried the thing a couple months ago. It may be smokeless, but it sure ain't raunch-less! *cough*   *choke*   *wheeze* *hack*    are we having fun yet???

Ohhhh yeahhhhhh

Ain't nothin it can't fix
Old dogs can learn new tricks
When the streets are lined with bricks
Of Acapulco Gold!

PS to any narcs patrolling these muddy waters: haven't lit up since 1973.

I don't smoke dope. Haven't for over 25 years. But I did, for about two years, and, when I did, I was frugal. I gotta say, someone's gotta be really fucking stoned outta their minds to buy some of this shit.

$23 a gram? $18 and I get a dozen cans of 5% beer, legally.

$800? When I could probably make a better (apparently... cough - cough) one in my garage outta scrap? Now, it may not "atomize", but I am sure you wouldn't cough. Wait... did he read the instructions? If it's a "liquid cooled", put fresh, cool liquid in... preferably red wine.

In any case, let's not lose sight of my original post. The fact of the matter is that this stuff is FREE and it helps people with terrible afflictions. For the gummint and the drug companies to see a profit in it, at cost to the sick, is, well, sick.

Maybe this bullshit is what drives me to drink. (Just a joke.)

Gnu: Cheech and Chong??!!!! Well my stars. All I remember is that the song made it onto a top 40 radio station in San Francisco for a few days. Finally the management figured out it wasn't really about an elderly couple going on a second honeymoon in Mexico and cut it from the playlist. Every "head" at Berkeley High School was snickering about it for weeks.

Me and Martha took a honeymoon
Over the border by the silvery moon
She was eighteen and I was twenty-two
Now we're just a-doing what the young folks do
We're going South to get that Acapulco gold....etc.

Or something like that...the exact lyrics went up in smoke along with a few brain cells, and the ones Google points to jest don't look right. Stems and seeds indeed.

Its criminal to withold drugs from those who are ill. If it relieves the pain or increases the apetite, why not let them have it? In fact, why not allow the general population access to that which anyone can grow at home?

Somebody wants to make a big profit. Somebody wants to regulate it and tax it. Those who are making the big money from the prohibition are the only ones who will lose if it is legalized. This should be considered an herb and regulated just like chamomile, mint and lemon balm.

Do you realize how many tax dollars are going into trying to bust people for pot? It takes money for all those special units and helicopters! I wish they would put that money into busting meth labs and heroine smugglers. Now that would be tax dollars well spent! When will they get their priorities straight?

Constables Schiemann, 25, Brock Myrol, 29, Anthony (Tony) Gordon, 28 and Lionide (Leo) Johnston, 32, were killed when known they were ambushed inside a Quonset hut on a farm.

A small marijuana grow operation and some stolen auto parts found inside the hut.

They died to maintain the law, and we dare not abandon that.

Here's what the CBC had to say about that tragedy, GUEST.

THose officers died trying to repossess a stolen truck from a psychopath who was well known to them already. The person then killed himself. 20 marijuana plants were later found at the site. The incident was not a "marijuana raid", as the public was led to believe at first.
