Subject: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 01 Aug 05 - 07:17 PM For all of you who have seen 'Kingdom of Heaven' and watched as the two sides duelled with trebuchets here is an intelligent game for you. I managed the 650 yards and destroyed a wall as well as hitting point targets. Maybe I need a job change..... Trebuchet |

From: Gray D Date: 01 Aug 05 - 08:03 PM My colleague Rhys (pronounced "Reece", not "Hrrrrrrriss)really hates the "Crazy Frog" and he sent me this link to a much less intelligent, yet strangely addictive game. Wear headphones if you're at work. Gray D |

Facing front, you are direct, enjoy playing devil's advocate and neither fear nor avoid discussions. With few details, you are emotional and naive, they care little for details and are a risk-taker. With 4 legs showing, they are secure, stubborn, and stick to their ideals. You drew medium sized ears, you are a good listener The length of the tail indicates the quality of your sex life. And again more is better! You drew large tail, WOW! |

Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Peace Date: 01 Aug 05 - 09:35 PM Completely childish games, both of them. Got 37 yards with the frog and 386 with the trebuchet. Childish. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Peace Date: 01 Aug 05 - 09:44 PM Up to 42 with the frog. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Peace Date: 02 Aug 05 - 12:11 AM Childish. I broke 400 on the trebuchet. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Bunnahabhain Date: 02 Aug 05 - 08:37 AM I though you meant real trebuchets. Those are fun to play with. See here.Lots of trebs The table-top ones are good as well. I made a bit of a mess of the big one I built, and never got more than 90 yards out of it.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: mooman Date: 02 Aug 05 - 08:53 AM Managed to get about 540 plus a total of about 2600 the first attempt! Peace moo (a Celt not a Roman!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: mooman Date: 02 Aug 05 - 09:14 AM My assistant (who is Roman) got over 600 on the first launch! (not that I condone this kind of thing at work of course...) Peace moo |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: GUEST Date: 02 Aug 05 - 09:20 AM The "top" scores have been hacked. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Bill D Date: 02 Aug 05 - 09:42 AM 89 on the frog! |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Bill D Date: 02 Aug 05 - 09:59 AM several 83s and 84s...and finally..92! I wonder if 100 is the theoretical limit? |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: MMario Date: 02 Aug 05 - 10:10 AM best score for me is 1581 |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Gray D Date: 02 Aug 05 - 07:08 PM 2891 and 92. Hrrrrrrriss says that 92 is the best he's been able to get as well, so perhaps theoretical physics has intervened . . . as opposed to the real kind, I mean. Gray D |

Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: A Wandering Minstrel Date: 04 Aug 05 - 08:23 AM 637 yards, standard function of weight x height. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Bat Goddess Date: 04 Aug 05 - 07:31 PM I got 644 right off the bat (so to speak) -- overall score was 2064 and it was sweet to watch the wall come down. Maybe Curmudgeon and I need to build one out back -- just in case USA Springs gets the okay to pump 300,000 gallons a day from our aquifer. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Bat Goddess Date: 05 Aug 05 - 08:11 AM That aquifer that is being threatened with rape and pillage is in Nottingham (and Barrington), New Hampshire USA -- threatened by furriners, despite their name. Not USA, not even a spring. Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Bat Goddess Date: 06 Aug 05 - 03:14 PM I was just musing on how handy it might be to have an actual trebuchet in the backyard. I'm not a violent person, but fantasizing about protecting our groundwater with a trebuchet helps to deal with the frustration of dealing with the USA Springs' lawyers and our state's willingness to sell anything that isn't nailed down. (So, did you check out my score and first distance shot?) Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Trebuchet for budding siege artists... From: Don Firth Date: 07 Aug 05 - 01:48 PM Anybody remember the episode of "Northern Exposure" where Chris (John Corbett), the local disk jockey, philosopher, and performance artist built a trebuchet with the intention of flinging a cow? As I recall, the local animal rights folks got all bent out of shape, so he flung a piano instead. Long, arcing flight, then great sound (!) with piano keys, splinters, scrap lumber, and strings everywhere! In another episode (or was it the same one?) an old friend of Chris's from his wilder motorcycle jockey days died and Chris wanted to give him the kind of send-off he would appreciate. So he cranked up the trebuchet, delivered a touching eulogy, and high-arced him into the nearby lake. Long final flight and a mighty splash! Don Firth |
