Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: yrlancslad Date: 05 Sep 05 - 02:25 AM Sorcha, sorry for you, no sympathy at all for your idiot brother who, at that age should have more sense than risk his stupid life trying to keep US colonialism alive for a little longer. |
Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: katlaughing Date: 05 Sep 05 - 04:27 AM Sorhca, I've had a long time to figure out there are times when we just can't do anthing about what our families decide to do. We just have to let go and give thanks for their safe outcome. Not an easy thing to do, I know. I am giving thanks for his safety and your ease of heart, darlin'... luvyakat |
Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: GUEST,G Date: 05 Sep 05 - 07:18 AM I for one don't think his "life" is "stupid, nor do I think he is an idiot. How could I since I have never met him. When some makes a decision to do something that goes against your way of thinking does not automatically make him "wrong". Maybe he IS correct. Would appear that he might have more character than most of the posters in this thread. God speed, Sgt. Green! |
Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: dianavan Date: 05 Sep 05 - 06:56 PM Sorcha - I understand how you feel. My baby brother joined the Marines when he was eighteen or nineteen years old, during the Vietnam war. I cried buckets of tears but never gave up hope of seeing him again. I was so disappointed in him and I was really angry with my parents for encouraging it. Sometimes people do really stupid things. Just keep in touch and make sure he knows that even if you disagree, you will always love him. He's your baby brother! |
Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: jacqui.c Date: 05 Sep 05 - 07:05 PM Good thoughts coming from Maine Sorcha. I, personally, would not do what he's done but at least he is doing something HE believes in. I hope that he comes home safely to you. |

If he keeps his head down and his good sense about him he'll be okay. |

Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: Rapparee Date: 07 Aug 06 - 10:57 AM Wonderful! Two more days...two more days! I remember guys running around screaming things like that, followed by the word "SHORT!!!" And tell him, "Okay now, that's PLENTY!" |
Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: LilyFestre Date: 07 Aug 06 - 12:19 PM Hey Sorch, Of course we are all thinking good things for your brother! I am curious to if he was in the service previously and was contacted about re-upping? My girlfriend's dad was contacted recently, a former Marine, to see if he could be persuaded to reenlist...the thought being he has lots of experience that they could use. Did you ask him why he decided to do this? Also, on a more positive note, it seems that the soldiers have access to greater communication tools which means they can stay in touch with their families much more frequently. I hope he has access to it and will stay in touch with you. Stay Positive My Friend, Michelle |

Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: Divis Sweeney Date: 08 Aug 06 - 11:15 AM Sorcha, at 50 he's probably coming to the end of his military career and sometimes as in World War two many older guys who were desk bound or acted as training officers wanted to have some involvement in the red zone and be able to reflect on it. It's coming from within the man. Hope all is well with you Divis |
Subject: RE: BS: My 'Baby' brother ships out tonight.... From: GUEST,Rapaire Date: 08 Aug 06 - 06:05 PM He's been there before if he's 50, or at least he has a lot of experience in the military. And you want to go so that you can assure yourself that the guys you probably trained are doing okay -- or to give to the new guys the benefit of your experience and, perhaps, save their lives. Believe me, I know. |
