Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When My Baby Double Talks to Me (Travis) From: GUEST Date: 09 Feb 17 - 02:38 PM Thank you so much. I've been haunted by this lyric and I couldn'get it. The melody is so catchy that it would plant an ear worm that wouldn't go away. Your transcription sounds spot on. |
Subject: Lyr Add: WHEN MY BABY DOUBLE TALKS TO ME (Travis) From: GUEST,Jim Dog Date: 25 Jul 08 - 05:36 PM Here's how I wrote it down.. When my baby does her double talk to me Then I get just as happy as I can be And everytime I hold her hand We're in another land With a language only we can understand And when I see the lovelight shinin' in her eyes I lighten up my private paradise Then I say, 'Honey, do you love me true?' And she says, 'Now, daddy, don't you know I do' When my baby does her double talk to me When my bail-faby does her du-fubble tall-a-falk to meel-a-fee, I genna-gel-fet ju-fust as hal-fappy as I can beel-fee And everytile-fime I hol-fold her hal-fand We're il-fin another lal-fand With a leel-fanguage o-jaw-fonly weel-a-fee can ull-funder-stal-fand And when I seel-fee the lo-fuvver-lal-fight shile-finin' in her ile-feyes And I lile-fighten up my prile-fivate para-dile-fise Then I say, 'Hul-funny, do you love me true?' She says, 'Dal-faddy, don't you know I do-a-hoo' When my bale-faby does her du-fubble talk to meel-oh-fee When my baky-daky-daby does her ducky-double talk-e-dalk to meek-a-dee Then I ge-ki-det juck-e-dust as hacky-e-dappy as I can bee-ki-dee And everytike-ti-dime I ho-ki-dold her hack-e-dand We're in another lack-e-dacky-dand With a lek-e-danguage on-ke-donly we-ki-dee can understack-e-stand And when I see-ki-dee the luck-e-dove-a-like-a-dight shike-e-dinin' in her ey-ki-dyes And I like-e-dighten up my own pri-ki-divate para-dacky-dise Then I say, 'Hucky-doney, do you lucky-dove me true?' And she says, 'I do-ga-ka-do-ga-ka-do-go-ka-do-ka-do When my baky-daky-daby does her ducky-double talk to me What a aby-bay! Or something like that :-) Jim Dog |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When My Baby Does Her Double Talk To From: Eve Goldberg Date: 10 Sep 05 - 08:34 PM Thanks for the lyrics Stewie! And it's funny that you should mention "He Said Murder He Said" because I have seen a film reel of a woman singing that song at what looks like an Armed Forces concert. I think I was about 14, and I have no memory of where I saw it, but I have always remembered the singer and have occasionally thought about trying to track that song down -- I don't remember much about the song except that it made a huge impression on me. Any more info on that song or the singer? Eve |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When My Baby Does Her Double Talk To Me From: Stewie Date: 08 Sep 05 - 04:20 AM It's on the Bear Family box set of Travis. According to the discography, Travis wrote it. There are no lines missing after the second line above. The missing lines after line 5 are: And when I see the lovelight shinin' in her eyes I lighten up my private paradise Then I say, 'Honey, do you love me true?' And she says, 'Now, daddy, don't you know I do' When my baby does her double talk to me As you say, the rest is nonsensical variations. --Stewie. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When My Baby Does Her Double Talk To Me From: rich-joy Date: 08 Sep 05 - 02:57 AM sorta reminds me of that wartime hit (and no, I wasn't there then!) called : "He Said : Murder! He Said"(?) sung by Betty Hutton, I think - whom Bob Hope described as "a Vitamin Pill on legs!" If you haven't seen the B&W video of those old shows for The Forces - seek it out, it's worth watching for this number alone!!! Cheers! R-J |

Subject: Lyr Req: When My Baby Does Her Double Talk To Me From: Eve Goldberg Date: 07 Sep 05 - 11:14 PM Hello Mudcatters! I haven't been hanging around much these days - I hope to be around more in the near future. But, I'm looking for lyrics that I can't find anywhere else on the internet -- and who better to ask than Mudcatters? I'm looking for complete lyrics (and chords if available) for "When My Baby Does Her Double Talk to Me" which I believe was written by Merle Travis (I know he made a recording of it, but I'm not completely sure he wrote it). The part I remember goes: When my baby does her double talk to me I get just as happy as I can be [Maybe a few more lines in here] And everytime I hold her hand We're in another land With a language only we can understand [a few more lines in here] It's only the one verse, but it gets repeated with funny "secret language" variations, like: When my bail-faby does her dulla-fubble talk to meel-fee, I get just as hal-fappy as I can beel-fee And everytime I holo-fold her hal-fand We're in another lal-fand With a lal-fanguage only weel-a-feel can understal-fand (etc.) I think there may be one or two other variations. Any takers? |
