Subject: Farewell Angelina???????Oh Yeahhhh From: Date: 06 Jan 99 - 08:38 PM I wanted to print the lyrics from this old Bob Dylan song and found it on the site. However, the words are so poorly transcribed that they are laughable. I invite you all to go to the site and tell me how many errors you find. The chuck and the queen? Geez. |
Subject: Lyr Add: FAREWELL ANGELINA (Bob Dylan) From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Jan 99 - 04:39 AM I guess I have to admit the lyrics in the database are a bit sloppy, but that's what happens with the volunteer labor disck has to work with. I wonder if the writer was volunteering to post a perfect version. Here's what I found at a Bob Dylan site. anybody care to make corrections? I couldn't find a printed source - it wasn't in my Joan Baez Songbook. -Joe Offer- FAREWELL ANGELINA Words and Music by Bob Dylan 1965, 1966 Warner Bros. Music Inc

Subject: RE: Farewell Angelina???????Oh Yeahhhh From: Ferrara Date: 27 Feb 99 - 04:56 AM Joe, I'm not sure it's quite right. Have only the infamous Ferrara memory to go by, though. I remember the lines in the first verse as "... the bells of the town / Have been stolen by outlaws, I must follow the sound." I'll check the album tomorrow. "bells of the town" makes more sense, but I don't suppose Dylan's intention was to make sense. |
Subject: RE: Farewell Angelina???????Oh Yeahhhh From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 27 Feb 99 - 07:57 AM Ferrara, My copy of Lyrics 1962 - 1985 by Bob Dylan (an authoritative source on Bob Dylan lyrics) concurs 100% with Joe's post. This is the type of song I don't much care for. If it makes sense to you, fine, but don't explain it to me. As our memories fade, I look forward to the time when I can hide my own Easter eggs.
