Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 12 Sep 05 - 12:28 PM Alas, my duty to Mrs. Johnny requires that I accompany her for a sojourn elsewhere in Her Majesty's Commonwealth, so I shall be on the far side of the Atlantic and unable to attend. It's tough, but someone's got to do it! Have a good 'un. S:0) |

Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: Big Al Whittle Date: 13 Sep 05 - 03:26 AM yeh I did one, but I'm not sure about it. At first it was a very pedestrian affair - 3 chords. Then about two days before I sent it off _ I changed all the chords and I suddenly got VERY excited about it., However the new chords were a lot for my old brain to deal with. it sounded a bit draggy to me when I staggered through getting it down - it will be something like performance standard about two months after the whole things over. Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing what you lot are up to. I'll ask jack. No fixed abode have got a couple of gigs in Dorset - so they won't be able to come. And that's my current circle of friends. I suppose I ought to see more people. |
Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: Big Al Whittle Date: 13 Sep 05 - 03:38 AM PS Could you guys e-mail me . my computer went into meltdown a couple of weeks ago and I lost your e-mails from my address book. PPS Do you lot know a bloke from the Boston club called dave Fletcher? We were in the same class in school together. When we were about fourteen, he told me all the naughty words for Madadmoiselle from Armentierres, and I think it was him who started my interest in the life of a musician, with tales of Brian Jones drug orgies. Anyway time passes and he turned up briefly at that gig in Boston, and then that couple who won the songwriting competition in Saltburn were speaking in hushed terms about him. I never realised he was a major player - i wonder if he ever got the wild drug orgies - I bloody didn't! all the best al |

Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: Myrtle Date: 18 Sep 05 - 03:07 PM Had a great time Sooz, thanks for letting me sing a couple, and of course so nice to see that the event was attended by a marrow!!! Regards, Myrtle. |
Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: Big Al Whittle Date: 18 Sep 05 - 03:20 PM I won the marrow in the tombola. what a place! A medieval manor house from the times of the wars of the roses. Half timbered like Shakespeares house in stratford but much bigger. A stuuning building. full marks for an imaginative choice of venue. great variety of singers too - all very individual - and very talented. do you know all these singers Sooz and where they come from? |
Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: GUEST,Sooz sans cookie Date: 18 Sep 05 - 03:31 PM Have a look at the pictures on the website Al - they are all identified. Most were regulars at Gainsborough, Louth and Lincoln Folk Clubs. Marrows are trying to take over the world. |
Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: Travelling Audience Date: 19 Sep 05 - 06:39 AM Enjoyed the afternoon thoroughly. Have to say the marrows of this world are getting bigger!! |
Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Autumn Event 18/9 From: GUEST,GS Date: 19 Sep 05 - 09:19 AM Really sad I couldn't make it but went out Saturday night with friends into smoky pubs chatting and dancing etc and my smoke allergy nearly killed me...woke up on Saturday morning with right eye like a tennis ball....snotty nose and could hardly swallow....I know! I should have known better but friends are friends and sometimes we need to make sacrifices (or do we really?) Best wishes, Mike. |
