Well, well, well...

First of all, I am a recoverin' collector... Yeah, did my time at Betty Ford an' all that collectin' is now just part of my past... Problem ain't with collectin' but the stuff I collected before going into treatment...

So, over the last four months I have emptied a recording studio/hangout, a double decker bus cottage/hangout, a sea container/ non-hang out and a house. I addition to that I have also moved tons of tools, my 1953 Spartanette 30 foot traier, hald a dozen vehicles and 297 feet of rope... Don't ask!!!

And I am now down to one more manageable trip... Yeah, with over 30 trips between the Wes Ginny home and the Luray, Ginny home with a truch and 10 foot covered tariler, plus a moving company fir the furniture, tomorrow will be the last trip wioth the trailer... There is light at the end of the tunnel and it ain't a train...

But nuff of that movin' blues 'cause I got one heck of a happy cat story to tell that, sniff, get me all misty eyed...

Fir the last several years we've had a ferral cat that in the winter lives unner our house and in the summer sleeps, heck if I know where, but we been feedin' her... We always called he Clerisa, and she just as sweat as she is wild... Well, last year she got preggied by one of the ugliest Tom's on the planet so we borrowed a trap and trapped her and took her off to get spayed, shotted up and all, then brought her home and she went back to being our ferral cat...

Well, we been feedin' her when we go up to the Wes Ginny house and hadn't realy decided what we'd do when it was finally time to leave but yesterday I borrowed a trap and set it last night... Hey, there were a lot of critters I expected to find in the tarp this mornin' but...

... it was Clerisa!!!!!

We got here... She's in a big dog cage here in the house and we'll keep her in it fir a week 'er two and then introduce her to the barn...

Sniff... Makes me al weepy knowing that we got *our* ferral cat... Makes the move complete...

Sniff...

Bobert

How do you think the cat feels about it?

Well, bobadster, right 'bout now she's prolly alternatin' 'tween being real pissed off and bein' confuserated...

Yeah it was a tough decision to bring her up here and when I finally meet the folks who have bought the Wes Ginny house if they would take care of her and show 'um where she expects to find food, then I might take her back there...

But, fir now, she's pissed off, but fed and safe...

But sho nuff ain't real happy 'bout much tonight...

Wait 'til she sees my domesticated cats... Hmmmmm? They all know each other 'cept one of my domesticated don't like her too much...

But I'm gald to have her tonight.... irregardless of how she feels about it 'cause she has been so dependent on us fir such a long time...

Give her a little time to acclimate in that cage, and maybe set her out on the porch in that cage for a few days, and she'll probably stick around. Be sure she knows where the food dish is.

i know of some folks who moved (lock stock and barrel) from guam.
they put everything in a big ship container...vehicles, furniture,
all of it. when the opened the door state side out staggered a
mere skeleton of a cat.she had been in there in the dark with no
food or water for something like 2-3 weeks...and she made it@@

yep, cat stories are good.

We have 2 cats here at the College where I work who started off as ferals. They are still, after 14 years, a bit nervous of too many people around, but in 1999 one of them, Mumsie, was voted the National Cat of the Year for sevices to working with autistic children. She won a years supply of cat food and £1200, and is still living off her winnings.

Jeez you make me all weepy - for emptying and moving so much stuff as much as inclusion of Clerisa into yo sweet li'l ol' fambly. (Hope that's the right vernacular?) Give her a scratch under the chin for me. I've been moving 35 years of stuff from my house over the last little while - no, I'm not a collector although I might as well be. That many years of family and all its stuff. Now I am an on my own gal and I felt weighed down by the years of stuff so out it goes (it goes on). I've painted the inside of the house and now am at the garden stage. A little pocket hankerchief of a garden but I have BIG PLANS. Our catto, Shadow, came into our lives as the kitten of a feral many years ago. Youngest daughter wanted a cat and found this one - black as black. Assured me it was a gal. What did I know? It has been a horrible cat over the years, moody, uppity, and just mean. I guess it has a vague memory of a feral tradition? My daughter has moved out and now........well now it is only me and Shadow and he is as nice as pie to me. Still horrible and rude to everyone else. But he loves me and only me. Has even rejected the daughter and he was totally devoted to her and only her for years. We are happy. So clear spaces make a lightness of both load and spirit and feral cats ....... what can I say? Feral cats are.........cats.
