Subject: Tune Req: Who am I? (Country Joe + FIsh) From: Richard Bridge Date: 19 Sep 05 - 11:02 AM I'd quite like to do this, and I have the words, and chords, but I'd like to refresh my memory of the Country Joe performance before I get to work on my singing and playing. Can anyone send me an mp3 in a zip? I have not been able to find the song in the internet so far. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Who am I? (Country Joe + FIsh) From: bobad Date: 20 Sep 05 - 10:25 AM I have the tune on CD and can rip it easily but haven't ever "zipped" a file. I'll give it a try tis evening after work. If you have any tips for zipping files let me know. By the way I'm on dial-up so advise if this is feasable. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Who am I? (Country Joe + FIsh) From: Richard Bridge Date: 20 Sep 05 - 01:52 PM To zip up the mp3 file you will need Winzip or PK zip or enzip or another zip utility. I think if you run XP it has one of its own. Zipping a file compacts it a little and renders it less likely to be corrupted in transmission. Winzip is pretty self explanatory to use. There is a free evaluation copy downloadable - but it is a bigger download than you will want to make on dialup. Install it and then when you right click on the file you get the option to put the file into a zip - and even to zip and email it. The problem is (if you are on dialup) that the resulting file is still likely to be about 2 to 3 mb - bigger than you are going to want to send and maybe bigger than your ISP will let you send. But thanks for the thought. I had it on tape but alas the tape got eaten by a rogue player. Perhaps I'd better trace and buy the CD. I did that for the Tim Rose songs I wanted to learn. Great songs, awful renditions and recordings. At least the Fish Cheer album is all listenable to! |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Who am I? (Country Joe + FIsh) From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 20 Sep 05 - 08:40 PM It is possible for Zip files to have the output chopped up into several files that can each be of a particular size (the original use was to put a very large file onto a set of 1.44Mb floppies) and which will automatically reassemble itself when run at the other end. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Who am I? (Country Joe + FIsh) From: Richard Bridge Date: 21 Sep 05 - 04:12 AM You are correct foolestrope. I had forgotten that. Peace, thanks, I've tried that site but I don't seem to be able to download from it. I surmise it might be because it is an American site and I am in England and there is an issue about the territoriality of copyright licensing although it might be me not immediately getting how the site works - nothing turns up in my shopping cart, but that again could be something to do with cookies which I generally do not accept... Nick, many thanks, I have PM'd you with my email address. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Who am I? (Country Joe + FIsh) From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 21 Sep 05 - 08:41 PM It's most likely the 'cookies' problem - the easiest way to get a 'shopping cart' to work is to use cookies. |
