Subject: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: GUEST,Samson Date: 15 Oct 05 - 11:18 AM A friend of mine is thinking of cutting his hair. When he mentioned he's planning to do that, my reaction was "are you crazy? You'll become a complete weakling." Having been born in Caanan, my hair is uncut. It's never caused me any problem. I believe there are no medical reasons for haircutting, but there are good reasons not to do it. After all, the body's strength depends on hair. Anyone care to comment? Cheers, Samson |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: John Hardly Date: 15 Oct 05 - 11:58 AM How confusing it must be for you! You don't know which, of the many elements of your vow, are going to weaken you. Should you not touch the dead? Should you not partake of the fruit of the vine? What to do? If I were you, I'd just keep on banging Delilah. Try not to care so much what she thinks -- just enjoy the lay and the day. |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: gnu Date: 15 Oct 05 - 12:47 PM Why, oh whyyyyyyy, Delilah... Always thought Tom shoulda cut his hair on accounta it looked like a big head a pubes. Then again, I understand he could back it up, with the ladies, I mean. I guess that's why he had ta wear them tight pants... on acounta, if it got swingin, he mighta lost his balance. Better keep him away from yer chick. So, another long-haired backwoods lad from the bog country of New Brunswick, eh? Yer from the Canaan River Bog, right? Oh... you spelled it Caanan. Maybe yer from a different spot. Anyway, if yer from up the 126, I would advise you to cut yer hair. Someday when yer toolin and foolin on the bike, yer gonna get yer hair caught in the alders, er even worse, like under one a the rear wheels. Either way, ya might snap yer head off like a Kent County Chicken on the wrong end of a bull whip. That there is a medical reason. |

Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: dianavan Date: 15 Oct 05 - 02:40 PM Both John and gnu have given you good advice. If you are toolin and foolin on the bike, I would also advise you to shave your legs. You don't want to get road rash. Actually, if you are the same Samson I know, Delilah will solve the problem for you. Don't worry about the hair on your head just concentrate on the hair on your legs. |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: Peace Date: 15 Oct 05 - 03:33 PM It's the damned shaving of my legs that gives me the rash. Do you think I should stop? |

Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 16 Oct 05 - 05:53 AM Pro - I haven't had a hair cut for many years & my hair is down to my waist & it really needs trimming. Con - I don't trust hairdressers. I've never had hair longer that mid shoulder-blade level cos I always got it cut when it grew long enough annoy me, so this time I tied it back in a pony tail, or plaited it, or twisted it up on my head & naturally it kept growing. And it still does, but one day I'll remember to take up my colleague's offer to trim the split ends. |

Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: Mooh Date: 16 Oct 05 - 09:16 AM One hair cut this new century, by the bride, who removed a few inches. It's still down just past my shoulders, but I usually keep it ponied, or braided when it's longer. It's easy to look after either very short or very long, that in-between length drives me crazy. When it's long, it's hard to find ball caps that fit properly, and sometimes the guitar strap pulls it. Beard is kept trimmed though. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: mooman Date: 16 Oct 05 - 09:58 AM Aarhhgggg! Mine was like my soundalike Mooh (with an "h"), well past my shoulders and kept in a ponytail but I got run down over the summer and my hair was suffering so I had it cut back to the healthy stuff. It's growing again now. My wife has saved the foot somewhere (probably as a memento of something as I'm past my prime!). Peace, moo |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: dianavan Date: 16 Oct 05 - 04:52 PM My hair grows really fast so I gave up on trying to keep it styled. It just cost too much to keep it cut. Its now down to waist, again, and I'm wanting to cut it but........ since its really healthy and strong, I'd like to donate it to a place that makes wigs for cancer patients. Any ideas? |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: Mooh Date: 17 Oct 05 - 07:26 AM I started growing mine again (it was very long in the 70s) because both my Dad and sister had cancer and there's an organization that collects hair for wigs. You know, whatever gesture makes a difference. But apparently mine was too old, grey, thin, weird (or whatever I'm not sure) to be of use, so I've kept it anyway. Maybe they'll change their minds. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: for Dianavan From: GUEST,Baldy Date: 17 Oct 05 - 09:03 AM "I'd like to donate it to a place that makes wigs for cancer patients. Any ideas?" Yeah, instead of asking here, where few, if any, are likely to have any knowledge of that sort of thing in your community, pick up the phone and call the Canadian Cancer Society. Their number in Vancouver is (604) 253-8470. |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: open mike Date: 17 Oct 05 - 11:57 AM www.locksoflove.org/ - will take your hair and make a wig for chemo patients who have lost theirs.. my daughter just donated a hunk of hair or a hank of hair but not a chunk of bone.. that is done thru the marrow association.. and a walkin' talkin' honey comb... |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: Jimmy C Date: 17 Oct 05 - 05:21 PM Both my wife and eldest daughter are blessed with thick, strong and healthy hair. Both got their hair cut and donated it to the Cancer Society. I don't know how they went about it but I think the Cancer Society in any major city will have the information. It's a worthwhile thing to do. I don't have much hair left but I do donate blood (54 pints to date). We should all think about these little things that can make a huge difference to the sick. my blood will be replenished and their hair will grow back, plus it makes one feel a lot better about oneself. |
Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: Peace Date: 17 Oct 05 - 05:29 PM I donated my O neg for years until I began some heart medication and they could no longer use it. If I ever stop the meds I will start donating again. |

Subject: RE: BS: Haircuts: pro and con From: dianavan Date: 19 Oct 05 - 12:30 AM I've decided what to do with my hair! An acquaintance is shooting a non-Hollywood type film. The main set is a dilapidated old car wash. Its about urban growth and re-newal. Changes in my community. My idea is to wash my hair in the car wash. Another idea is to sit down and cut it off in front of the cameras. We'll play with these ideas. Stay tuned. |
