Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: JohnInKansas Date: 31 Oct 05 - 08:48 PM Yes, it's fairly simple, but I don't feel inclined to devote the time. I disagree with Bee-Dub that writing backwards is much more difficult than typing backwards, since you produce the characters in the normall order when you write backwards. Nealry all of us lysdexics cna od taht fiaryl smiply. When typing backwards you have to create characters in reverse order, and that's just time consmuping. John |

Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: Kaleea Date: 31 Oct 05 - 11:50 PM Try holding a piece of paper on your forhead & write your name. Don't know why, but when I do this, the letters & words come out correct. How 'bout you? |
Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: Stilly River Sage Date: 31 Oct 05 - 11:59 PM Er, are you writing anywhere near your forehead in this strange sounding transaction? Or are you holding paper on your forehead with one hand and writing on a wall or a desk with the other? ;-D |
Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: mg Date: 01 Nov 05 - 12:22 AM Yes...upside down and backwards both hands at the same time...well, each hand going in a different direction. When I was first learning to read I actually taught myself or I would still be learning...I could not tell if the book was upside down or rightside up...I still can't make 3's and e's and get them right...I also can't do the whole alphabet to this day...is this ...um..normal? It is only h i and j that give me trouble...can never remember which goes where in phone books etc...also when I try to get the dollar bill to go in the right way in a pop machine or whatever I have a heck of a time matching it up... mg |
Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: Stilly River Sage Date: 01 Nov 05 - 12:26 AM I worked in the Great Smoky Mountains NP in the early 1980s. Hell on earth, with all of those tourists and the same three questions. I was stuck in a kiosk much of the time, and got to where I just opened the map so they could see it and proceeded to circle what they wanted, draw arrows, and write upside down. It was easier than twisting the map around all day long. SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: Liz the Squeak Date: 01 Nov 05 - 04:03 AM Being lefthanded has a lot to do with reading or writing backwards. I could write backwards (totally reversed characters, not just desrever sdrow) before I could write forwards, and now, if I'm extremely stressed I will still write characters backwards. I'm one of the few lefthanders who write straight - with the page square on to me and my wrist not bent, rather than those who curl their hands round and write sideways down the page. Leonardo Va Vinci is the master of lefthanded (mirror) writing, most people cannot read it without a mirror. I could never see their problem as I could read it fine. Reading words that have been reversed, as above, now THAT is a bit more difficult! LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: Rapparee Date: 01 Nov 05 - 08:43 AM I'm right handed and can read up, down, back and forth, left to right, right to left, upside down, downside up, mirror image, and just about any other way. I can't read very well with my eyes closed, though. |
Subject: RE: BS: sdrawkcab etirw ouy nac From: JennyO Date: 01 Nov 05 - 09:44 AM I suppose what I do is mirror writing? I can write backwards with my left hand almost as easily and fast as I write forwards with my right hand (I'm right-handed) - it feels the same - but I have trouble writing forwards with my left hand, or backwards with my right hand. |
