Subject: BS: Photos on the web From: Shiplap Structure3 Date: 21 Nov 05 - 04:51 AM Its one of lifes mysteries or at least it is to me How do you go about putting photos on the web so that forum postings (not particularly this forum) more effectively illustrated Ta |
Subject: RE: Photos on the web From: Bill D Date: 21 Nov 05 - 11:34 AM if you mean putting YOUR photos up somewhere, it is usually a matter of finding a nice site where they are hosted free. Like http://www.flickr.com/..or a number of others. (Just using the Opera browser give me 300 MGS od space!)....Those sites have some sort of automated upload script where you just pick your PIC and say 'go'. It is possible that your ISP also provides you some space (providers differ...mine gives me 10 MGS, but I have to use an FTP program to upload to it...not a big deal. |
Subject: RE: Photos on the web From: Bill D Date: 21 Nov 05 - 12:00 PM also www.x10hosting.com/ Snapfish.com www.webshots.com is free storage for a limited number of photos in a limited number of categories .. altogether they will certainly hold 100 photos.
http://www.foldershare.com and on the Opera site http://my.opera.com/community/help/albums/ ....I don't SEE anything that requires you to USE Opera in order to register...*shrug* |
Subject: RE: Photos on the web From: GUEST,Jon Date: 21 Nov 05 - 12:06 PM Well as Bill says, you have to have somewhere to put them. The other part with a forum is that you need to provide a means of people getting to them. In the case of Mudcat, you can provide a link in a thread. Some forums do allow an HTML IMG tag to load an image when the page opens of provide an alternative method to achieve the same thing but that option is not available here (it can slow page downloads down considerably for some users for one thing...) For the sites that do allow ebmedded images, http://www.imageshack.us/ was recommended on another forum I use the other day as it makes a link for a thumbnail you can copy paste rather than have a big picture (which probably would make you unpopular) embedded in the page. |

Subject: RE: Photos on the web From: John MacKenzie Date: 22 Nov 05 - 05:18 AM Because it is a technical question and not a BS post possibly. Only BS goes straight in here all others go upstairs, although as Joe explained to me, some like Obits eventually descend to the Stygian depths of BS again. Giok |
