Our Phot is off to do his bit in Iraq for four months on Tuesday. The really brave thing is that he is bringing Mudcat Jack with him....says a tour on active service will do the misbegotten boozehound good.

No matter what your thoughts on this war are,I'm sure you'll want to join with me in wishing them safe home again and, if you can spare them, some good thoughts for Pixie and Joelene left behind to worry, wouldn't go amiss either.

Mudcat Jack was looking very calm and confident when I saw him yesterday, representing the Middle Bar at Dave Bryant's wake.

Hi all, thanks for your kind thoughts and wishes. Morticia gave my hair a bit of a trim on Sunday, and in typical hairdresser style asked "Going anywhere nice for a holiday?" She'd do a great job with the Diplomatic Service!!

Jack will be kept well away from guns and stuff, but I think he has designs on the video camara I'm going to be using out there, he has said he wants to be a roving reporter and goodwill ambassador for the Mudcat, and Middle Bar Singers. Who is he trying to kid?! He'll just be his usual self and try to get on TV as much as possible! Still at least his liver will get a chance to dry out.

I'll try to keep you all entertained from over there, orders for camels, magic carpets, T55's etc will be delt with in a strict first come, first served basis!

This morning we went to Bombay Stores in Bradford. They had on display some big firworks - wonderful names on the boxes - "Nuclear Weapons" and the like. The one which amsed me was on entitled "Demented Dictator", but I couldn't decide if it was referring to Saddam or GWBush...
