Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: Geoff the Duck Date: 25 Mar 06 - 01:15 PM Carole and Andrew - I've been looking through the list of tunes you gave us the other week. I notice that a bunch of them are to be found as ABC format or as MIDIs on the web. Would you like me to put a couple of BLICKIES so people who don't know them or don't read music can have a listen? Quack! Geoff. |
Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: Alaska Mike Date: 25 Mar 06 - 01:32 PM Congratulations my friendz, Tawmmie and I wish you the happiest of lives together. Any chance you will be honeymooning in Alaska? If not, then our hugs must be virtual instead of in person. We still remember the fun we shared with you both, and look forward to doing it again. Kindest regards, Mike & Tawmmie |
Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: Crane Driver Date: 25 Mar 06 - 04:43 PM Giok and Micca - yes, that sounds like the sort of party we got planned - welcome to Llareggub. Geoff - great idea. Just do it! Jerry & Ruth, Karen, Freda, Mike & Tawmmie and everyone else who can't make it but would like to - thanks again. Getting to know guys like you is one of the great things about this Mudcat. And thanks to Joe Offer for changing the title of this thread to something more comprehensible. We wanted to keep it above the line because so many folks filter out all BS threads. Not long now! Andrew & Carole |

Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: SussexCarole Date: 25 Mar 06 - 05:16 PM Rhiannon - there's a booklet of tunes - mostly well known - so that most people can join in with some of the music sessions or busk along with the ceilidh. I'll put one in the post if you want - anyone else want one??????? "Gower time ticks away at its own pace - perhaps Gower clocks never manage to reach closing time" |

Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: Benjamin Date: 25 Mar 06 - 06:10 PM Man, what I wouldn't give to hear the concertina music that will be at that event. However, my previous engagements will make such a long travel a bit difficult to justify (not to mention afford, I am a musician). Andrew, play a tune for me! Also, congradulations to both of you! I had no idea until now (I never noticed thread earlier). I've talked with both of you on chat and couldn't be happier for you two. You guys are really two of the nicer people I've met around here. In any case, I'll be with you in spirit, sending you my best wishes! Jenny |

Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: Geoff the Duck Date: 26 Mar 06 - 01:00 PM Okay - Carole gave us a buch of music which essentially contains suggestions for tunes which are likely to be played during the weekend. Some of them are fairly common session tunes, but others are ones which I don't know. Although I can sit down and work them out - I can read music, but do not often have a need to, so I don't do it "up to speed", it is still easier to listen to the tune. I tracked down a bunch of the tunes - in ABC format - which can be converted to MIDI using http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html - CONVERT-A-MATIC. A lot of the tunes are found in a booklet produced by the Lewes Arms Folk Club - Downloadable as ABC and Noteworthy Composer formats from HERE. I have listed the tunes from the Weding List found in each "Volume":- Lewes Favourites Volume 1 The Cotillion (Bosham Band, circa 1800) Scan Tester's No.2 Scan Tester's No.1 Flowers of Edinburgh Soldier's Joy Lewes Favourites Volume 2 Brighton Camp Cochin China Jack Come Kiss Me Now Michael Turner's Waltz (Mozart) Enrico The Sloe The Weaver's March (published James Aird, 1782) The Man in the Moon (Scan Tester) The Tank Lewes Favourites Volume 3 The Oyster Girl Speed the Plough Welch's Four Part Polka (Sussex Tune Book) Davy Davy Knick-Knack Lewes Favourites Volume 4 Rochdale Coconut Dance Lewes Favourites Volume 5 Maggie in the Wood Dashing White Sergeant Michael Turner's Jig Old Rosin the Beau The New Rigged Ship Lewes Favourites Volume 6 Laura Monck's March (Belle Isle) The New Moon Scan Tester's Schottische No.2 Jimmy (Jamie) Allen Marmalade Polka My Love She's but a Lassie Yet Off She Goes Tip Top Polka King of the Cannibal Islands Moll of the Wood (The saucy little bird on) Nelly's Hat (Scan Tester) The Rose Tree Well - That should give a start...... Quack! Geoff. |

Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: My guru always said Date: 28 Mar 06 - 03:11 AM Not long now - sending positive thoughts for the last few days before the wedding. Such marvellous organisation to help so many people celebrate, thank you both so much!! Now to the serious stuff - will there be a wide-screen set up at Kennoxstone so we can All see the web-cast of the Wedding? Splott Man suggested all those with 'Power Books' should hold them open outside the registry office for the hordes of interested parties spilling out, but I wasn't sure what a 'Power Book' was a the time.... Or, where's the nearest internet cafe? And is the event being videoed? {{{{Carole & Andrew}}}} |
Subject: RE: Crane Driver & SussexCarole - Wedding 8 April From: Zany Mouse Date: 28 Mar 06 - 05:29 AM Dots (or birds on telegraph wires) came today, Carole. Thanks. I don't think there will be enough time for me to learn the tunes as I'm only a baby at this, but Mick played them straight through without problem (of course!), so I think my duty will be mainly dog-holding! Your organisation is amazing. Looking forward to Friday. We're just about to go up to check out the motorhome. Yiipppeeee Rhiannon |

I'll find out what's needed for the playback... |
