Rush Limbaugh, on his show today, seems to have forgotten to read the "talking points" or to engage his brain (how unusual). He let slip a thought that's probably dear to his heart when this closet Tory stated -- while discussing Democratic criticism of Dubya and his actions -- "You haven't got rid of the king".....

Kind of sez it all, I'd say.... Now, what're we going to do about it? I'd think that a call to your Senator to express horror at the thought of appointing Mr. "Unitary Executive" Scalito to serve as Dubya's courtier is in order.

Cheers,

Figure of speech.

Keep listening to Limbaugh. I don't. but you will keep his ratings strong if you do.

In fact call teddy Kennedy about it. but don't interrupt him during his liquid lunch hour or from looking up barabar boxer's skirt.

(Reminds me of Reagan's "If you've seen one tree you've seem them all" remark.)

My favorite Rush line:   "I love the woman's movement, especially if I am walking behind it".

If you listen long enought you will appreciate what a great sense of humor Rush has.   That has helped him be the MOST SUCCESSFULL RADIO HOST IN HISTORY.   A sense of humor is something that most liberal radio hosts could use.   Most of them have failed because their shows are painful to listen to.

Let's not pick on Teddy- the designated driver of the Democratic party.   When asked on TV is he could pass any of these hearings he is presiding over, Teddy replied "Probably not".

My serious question for all of you out there:   Why does the democratic party put Teddy as their front person in all these hearings.   He is old and has enormous baggage.   Wouildn't they be much better served with a another front person?   Wouldn't Bill Richardson, Harold Ford, Barac Obama, Evan Bayh, or Joe Liebeman be far more effective than Kennedy, Feinstein, Boxer, Sharpton, Reid, or Shummer?

Ummm, was it that famed sense of humour that referred to Chelsea as the White House dog?

What makes His Emanence the "most successfull [sic] radio host in history" (perhaps a bit of an exaggeration) is that there's a big load of screaming DittoBots out there that look for validation of their own skewed world views (for reasons best left to them to explain). It's hardly factual content; Rush is one of the biggest bloviators and propagandists for the Mighty Wurlitzer of the RNC. When he gets called on his factual errors, he says he's "just an entertainer", and that it was humour. Hardly. The Republican Congress brought him in as an honoured guest, and he's thick as flies with the Republican 'machine'.

Here's some stuff of Limbaugh. More here and here and here. You can scroll though a whole load of Limbaugh lunacy here.

As for funny, you ought to pick up some of Al Franken's books. He does a good job of being funny while putting a sharp skewer through the RW nonsense.

Cheers,

Sometimes I'll listen to him in the car for a coupla minutes. Today he "reported" in some self-promo that an independent research org thay tracks such things said 98% of his stuff he reports is actual fact. Seems impossible to me-but I cant remember the name he cited as the so-called "research org." It wasn't one of his bloviating jokes tho.

The Anus and Boobert show was just a spinoff of the Anus and Acne show. It is now playing every other program on the USA netowrk, alternating with Law and Order.

Quote MG: "Yeah, but he can do that by blowing a fart in a shoebox."

That one kept me laughin' a bit, Martin! Reminds me of a really BAD "dirty joke" I heard in my yoot. Just the mental image of ol' Rush doing that is priceless. Missed most of his show today but he was preachin' on ol' Teddy Kennedy the other day--and Clinton's book, comparing it to one now (Frey's?) that actually has some buncha dopes taking out a class action lawsuit to sue for "lost time" in reading it since it had so many fabrications in it. Really! Guess Oprah called into some Larry King show to "defend the book." Yeah-I know I don't read ANYTHING until Oprah gives it her stamp of approval.

Anyway, Rush: seems ya either love him or hate him. But either way he's got himself a crapload of listeners and fans...all those "dittoheads."

Arne- I don't care whether you like Limbaugh or hate Lumbaugh: whether you think he is accurate or full of lies.   To deny his popularity or place in radio history only makes you look foolish.

He redefined talk radio.   There was very little before he started.   Today it dominates the air waves.    There would be no Al Franken if there was no Rush Limbaugh.

He has dominated ratings as the undisputed leader every year for the last 15 straight years.   Name one TV, radio, athelete, or movie star who has been the number one star for 15 straight years.   That is pretty elite company.

Limbaugh has won more Marconi awards than anyone else.   This shows that the industry regards him highly as well.

Lets compare Limbaugh to Franken.   20 million people a week listen to limbaugh   Only 1 - 1.25 million listen to Franken (per Talkers Magazine) Limbaugh is highly profitable.   Air America is losing millions of dollars a year. (it is only on the air through donations of fat cat millionaires)   The only area that Franken is biggger than Rush is in his stomache as Franken is much fatter than Limbaugh.

Rush is the most successfull radio host in history.... ditto.

Larry K.:

Care to discuss the substance of Rush's emanations?

But in answer to your comments, no, Rush didn't "invent" talk radio. It was certainly present in nascent form in "morning drive" shows, and in the sports call-in shows too, before His Emanence took it into the stridently political realm. But even that was foreshadowed by the likes of Father Coughlan, etc.

Did I "deny his popularity"? No. Why don't you see if you can refrain from the Limbaughesque tactic of putting up massive "straw men" only to tilt at them and declare victory?

Then you go into some kind of "tu quoque" attack on Al Franken. Hate to say it, but Franken's right up there with Limbaugh in book sales, maybe even better. As for the status of Air America, wouldn't it be fair to compare Franken and Air America to Limbaugh's early days ... say, perhaps, even to the days when Limbaugh was bombing in Sacramneto and getting canned? But FWIW, Air America is doing rather well in some markets, even beating the bleating RW talkers they are up against in some markets and demographics.

The only area that Franken is biggger than Rush is in his stomache as Franken is much fatter than Limbaugh.

Huh??? You'll swallow any crap for the party's sake, eh? Or just dish it out.... Spoken like a True DodoHead(TM). I will state that, as a factual matter, Limbaugh's appetite for Oxycontin seems to exceed Franken's. Say, what do you think about Limbaugh's philosophy that druggies ought to be sent up the river, no pity and no mercy?

Cheers,

These are among the things that Limbaugh has said about drug use. I'll grant you that although he may be lacking as a role model, he is an EXCELLENT neocon- when it comes to hypocricy, he's got it down.

"We're going to let you destroy your life. We're going to make it easy and then all of us who accept the responsibilities of life and don't destroy our lives on drugs, we'll pay for whatever messes you get into."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec. 9, 1993

"I'm appalled at people who simply want to look at all this abhorrent behavior and say people are going to do drugs anyway let's legalize it. It's a dumb idea. It's a rotten idea and those who are for it are purely 100 percent selfish."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"If (Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders) wants to legalize drugs, send the people who want to do drugs to London and Zurich, and let's be rid of them.
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.
"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."
-- Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995

emphasis mine

Rush Limbaugh.... Lush Bimbo. Just your typical drug abuser that will say anything as long as you pay him enough.

Rush was a habitual loser before his daddy bought him a radio show. Remind you of anyone? No wonder he's such a supporter of Bush. They have alot in common.
