Subject: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: gnu Date: 04 Feb 06 - 04:23 PM I predicted, accurately, over four years ago who would lead the Canuck Liberals in the last election. It's all to do with staying low and under the radar and surfacing when it's right. That being said, I will cast my vote for the next Rep candidate for Pres. And, I have more reasons than just the following press snippet. It's just that, well, this is the first time I have seen a volley fired on the field of competition....... to wit... today in the press... Rumsfeld said... "The Iranian regime is today the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism," he said. "The world does not want, and must work together to avoid, a nuclear Iran." Despite Rumsfeld's call for diplomacy, McCain said military action could not be ruled out if diplomatic efforts fail to stop Iran from developing a nuclear bomb. "Every option must remain on the table," McCain told the security conference after Rumsfeld spoke. "There's only one thing worse than military action, that is a nuclear-armed Iran." "The Arizona Republican later added that military action is "totally undesirable" and could be considered only after all other options were exhausted." Looks clear to me. But. I am just a dumb canuck. Can anyone enlighten me? |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 04 Feb 06 - 04:58 PM I will cast my vote for the next Rep candidate for Pres. I take it you are talking about who will be the winning nominee, rather than expressing an intention to vote for him as President. Unless you are assuming that by that time your bit of Canada will have joined the USA... |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Sorcha Date: 04 Feb 06 - 04:59 PM Cheney???? God, I hope not.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: GUEST Date: 04 Feb 06 - 05:01 PM Who is the leading terrorist? Depends on where you live. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Peace Date: 04 Feb 06 - 05:02 PM According to much of the world, the leading terrorist is in Washington at 1600 Penn . . . . |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: gnu Date: 04 Feb 06 - 05:08 PM Yup... Nope... Not yet... tell us something we don't know. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Rapparee Date: 04 Feb 06 - 05:14 PM I'd have a hard time NOT voting for John McCain. But everything, of course, depends upon who is running. Were McCain to run against, say, John Kerry I wouldn't have a problem. If he were to run against Bob Kerrey I would have. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: GUEST,Bardford Date: 04 Feb 06 - 05:24 PM Jeb. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: gnu Date: 04 Feb 06 - 06:16 PM Jeb would get trashed. Johnny is the golden boy... the only one who can possibly defeat Hilary. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Once Famous Date: 04 Feb 06 - 06:18 PM And I will vote for him instead of one who can't even manage her own husband, let alone this country. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: GUEST Date: 04 Feb 06 - 06:32 PM Actually, she's managed better than most wives would. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 04 Feb 06 - 08:18 PM Jeb will run, but he won't get the nomination. He may get the VP slot. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Anonny Mouse Date: 04 Feb 06 - 08:22 PM McCain vs. Hillary. I can believe that. Thing is, I think McCain will prefer being chased and begged to run. I can believe Jeb because he's Mr. Eager. Wouldn't be thrilled with Jeb...less thrilled with Billary. |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Bobert Date: 04 Feb 06 - 08:30 PM Looks as if it's John McCain's nomination to loose... And given that the Dems are all done winning the White House, he's probably the least evil of the folks that the Repubs could run.... Jeb can't win the nomination becuase of the way he treated his ex-wife and because of his womanizing... This won't play too well with the Christain Right unless he's willing to do what his older brother did: Lie about how he'd been saved and convince folks that since he was "saved" that all questions about is old self were off limits... |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: DougR Date: 04 Feb 06 - 09:26 PM I believe you are all wrong. McCain won't get it because he won't have the support of the conservatives in the Party and the "Moderates" (whatever the heck that is) are not strong enough to give him the nomination without conservative support. The former mayor of New York, I believe, has a shot at it, though he will have a tough time garnering conservative support too I think. DougR |
Subject: RE: BS: Next Rep Pres candidate? From: Bobert Date: 04 Feb 06 - 09:38 PM Its the conservatives (whatever they heck they are) in the party who are the Repubs greatest liability, Dougie... The American people just don't buy their policies... Maybe it's because the conservatives ain't all that conservative but very radical these days... John Danforth, former Repb. Senator, just advised the Republican Party to get the heck away from the Christian fundamantalists as fast as they could run or they can loose power... Lotta folks gettin' real tired of being preached to by hypocrits and radicals... Yeah, I'd love fir the Repubs to pick one of these firebrands... In the words of yer guy: Bring it on!... Bobert |
