Subject: Obit: Jack Wild aka The Artful Dodger From: Flash Company Date: 02 Mar 06 - 09:38 AM Jack Wild died last night after a longish fight with cancer of the mouth. He was just 53 years old. Best remembered as The Artful Dodger in the film of Lionel Bart's 'Oliver', he appears to have become a heavy smoker after the parts dried up. Eventually lost his tongue and voice box to cancer! Rest in peace. FC |
Subject: RE: Obit: Jack Wild aka The Artful Dodger From: SunnySister Date: 02 Mar 06 - 10:48 AM That's very sad to hear. He was very, very good in that part and I've heard he did some wonderful theater work in England too (I guess most of his work was there in his home country). Much too young. Thank you for posting this. --SunnySister |

Subject: RE: Obit: Actor Jack Wilde/ HR Pufnstuf (March 200 From: Once Famous Date: 02 Mar 06 - 11:16 PM It was depressing to see the slideshow Yahoo ran. A cute kid evolved into someone so sadly grotesque. I felt pretty sorry for him. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Actor Jack Wilde/ HR Pufnstuf (March 2006) From: Flash Company Date: 03 Mar 06 - 07:02 AM Todays Telegraph obit doesn't mention a liver problem, sad thing is that his career was showing signs of recovery when he was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2004. He had his tongue and voice box removed and appeared to be in remission. Actually still trying to perform non-speaking rolls. In short, a trouper. FC |
