I'm back after a couple of days off and just wanted to say a big Thank You to both Seamus and Mary. It was a wonderful concert! It was nice to meet some real live Mudcatters, too! Aside from Dad, Jacqui and Mary, of course. And "live" was not how I would described father Sunday night. :-)

Greetings to all (first post here),

I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful time on Sunday. My wife and I had never seen Seamus before, though we had heard a few of his CD's. It was an incredible experience, and I'm glad we could be a part of it. Also thank for mentioning this place to keep up with music and events, it's great.

To Mary: Thanks for inviting us into your home.
To Seamus: Absolutely the best concert I have ever been to, and I've been to many "larger" venue performances.
To everyone else: nice to meet you and I hope to contribute and converse around here when time permits.

Thanks,
Ziggy (& Kristen)

Knock it off! I hate it when people talk about me behind my back. Hate it worse when they spout gibberish right to my face!

See what a good night's sleep does? I am back!

Final thoughts on Seamus Kennedy:
The man is insane. Robin Williams on speed. He walks in like a sweet little Catholic boy bringing a note from Reverend Mother and then turns into a non-stop barrage of hysterically funny one liners, puns, jokes, observations...

Three sets of music and "comments" and I believe he could have gone on for three more. I know he could have - unfortunately we were running on pure adrenalin and crapped out after dinner.

Breakfast was another hilarious hour with a battle of the puns between Seamus and Kendall - something about where to hide the gun when getting on a plane. Once again I hurt from laughing and had to beg for a break.

Next time, Seamus will be the only event and we will play until morning.

A LAST THOUGHT: IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET bENTE, TRY. sHE WANDERED IN FROM mARBLEHEAD AND FIT RIGHT IN AS IF SHE LIVED NEXT DOOR. pUT UP WITH MY BITCHY MOMENTS, SHARED dAMN cAPSLOCK! some songs of her own, shopped and carried and did all she could to help. What a great and wonderful lady. And she looks good too except for the scabby knees. Something about Jed luring her into a cemetary and then trying to bury her. Think about moving to Maine, Bente.

Thank you everyone but especially Kendall and Jacqui for pulling off this weekend. No more festivals for me. I am strictly a one nighter.

Wot's worse is we drove right by that very day because the

That was a splendid performance enhanced by the presence so many of the Mudcat New England contingent. The weather cooperated superbly, possibly with a little help from the early arrival who to his seat standing backstage. I could almost swear to the fact that he applauded the performance, but maybe it was just the tears of laughter interferring with my vision. Bente's confection was so delicious I had one piece of each flavor.

a Shéamais,

Thaitin go mór liom an ceol agus na scéalta greannmhar ar fad! Tá súl agam níorbh fhada an lá anonn nó go bhfeicfidh mé thú arís!

I slept for almost 12 hours last night, and I thought I'd slept fairly well at Mary's! That was quality though, not quantity. I promise to be perkier next time, AND bring the fiddle. AND possibly try to practice a bit because I've hardly had it out.

Seamus,

Glad to hear you made it home safely, it was a pleasure meeting you, you're one [no, no swearing, I'll be good :o)] of a performer, I'm so glad I got a chance to watch you do your magic. I look forward to listening through my haul of new CDs once I get anywhere near a PC with a decent sound system.

Now, from where I was sitting I could see the new inhabitant of the garden, the "Nearly Headless Jaysus", or what's 'is name. I swear that I saw him discreetly marking the beat with his left hand on several occasions - I think that's what caused him to drop that red, blinking heart. You probably wouldn't have noticed, you weren't looking his way at the time. And once I saw him sneak his hand up to cover what I assume was a wide grin.. I tried to catch these miracles with the camera, but he was very discreet, indeed. "Would you perjure yourself for a beer?", I recall you asking. Noo, but a few CDs might just do the trick, however, my lips are sealed :-))

By the way, I don't think you can blame poor Jed entirely for leaving everybody exhausted. There were definitely other contributory factors such as Kendall's hypnotized lobsters + the various liquids that they swam their last in, late night revelries of diverse kinds etc.

For my part I've had such a good time all weekend, and if it weren't for the need to get a decent night's sleep for once, I should have happily continued till kingdom come. I'll add my thanks to those of Seamus and everybody else: THANK YOU MARY for making this happen and for letting me come along for the fun!

All people brighten your life
- some when they enter it
- some when they leave

You guys have all been of the former variety, and I thank you all for the warm welcome that was extended to a poor, lonesome, travelling Dane.

Best wishes,

Bente

It was such a delight meeting all you 'Catters.
I really enjoyed the company of Curmudgeon & Bat Goddess, and Bente, and Jeri, and SINS, and Jacqui.c, and Kendall, and Ranger1, and Jason, Old Uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all.

I'm just sorry that Jed Marum left you all so exhausted you couldn't stay up late last night and play.

Mary, thanks for your hospitality and generosity.

I'm just starting to recover from the whole weekend and Seamus really was the icing on the cake.

Not only did he do a long show, in three parts, yesterday afternoon, but we were regaled with further jollity that evening and again this morning when Kendall and I went back for breakfast.

Many thanks to Mary for hosting the event and all the work that she put in.

Final note - Mary has said that if she suggests hosting more than one event in any weekend she's to be told NO!!!! Please ensure that your voices are heard should this happen.

He's a great performer and Tom & I enjoyed the show immensely! Wish I could remember all the good lines I said I had to make a point to remember.

I wish the tired mommy lullaby set was somewhere on the 3 CDs I bought. Never been a mommy, but laughed til the tears ran down my eyes. I discovered some songs I've enjoyed on CD are even better in person -- I can see why fans drive great distances to see him!

Alas, we had to head home before his final set. I hope we didn't miss too much.

And we returned to find our diabetic cat in renal failure. Mortimer's at the vet on IV fluids, but there's a hard decision in our immediate future.

Poor Seamus has a thread of his own and he's being snubbed. The poor man needs all the confidence we can give him. It was a nice little concert - a big quiet and subdued, but you've probably heard about Mr Kennedy. The procedings were presided over by Plaster Jesus, AKA Headless Jesus, AKA, 'Hello Kitty' Jesus. He seemed to be having an OK time as well, other than perhaps wondering about being forsaken.

There were out-of-towner Seamus fans, and there were Mary's neighbors, who for some unfathomable reason didn't complain, but sat in their back yard, made requests and listened. I think SINS tried to convince them to buy a ticket. There were no police, because there were no fights - probably because we were all worn out from Jed and the lobsters.

Seriously, he was good, he was hilarious, and the sound levels were such so you could hear background noise and other people. The concert was wonderful as well.

Thank you!

Update:
So far, 14 non-'Catters have reserved seats and are sending advance payments. If you plan on attending this one I need an email to SINSULL47 at YAHOO dot com. I will have to collect payment in advance to save the seat. $15 to Seamus. Plan to buy some CDs.

Beds are available for out of towners.
Chairs will be appreciated. If the weather cooperates we will move this outdoors.

3PM buffet (pot luck offerings appreciated) with soft drinks. Concert followed by a song circle. I will break out the wine, beer and whatever then.

If you will be at the Lobster Boil on Saturday let me know too. I don't have a lobsterman to offer boat rate but am working on it.

A "Support Mudcat" jar will be available for change. If you have a collection of pennies and want to get rid of it, this is the way.

If you are gonna fly here with Tawmmie, Mike, make it a double bed.
If not, I'll see you in the Caribbean next winter.

Tawmmie is feisty as ever, Mary, thank you for asking. And granted, Jacqui, I could fly there, but the expense appears to be prohibitive at this time. Besides, Tawmmie wants to go to the Carribean next winter so we need to save our pennies. I guess I'll just have to put my Seamus' CD's on the player and listen to him that way, but its never the same as in person.

Have a blast,
