Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 21 Mar 06 - 05:36 PM I had a deprived childhood... I had to watch 'Multicoloured Swap Shop' in black and white. I felt that MSS had better cartoons than Tiswas, but Tiswas definately had more gunge. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: GUEST Date: 21 Mar 06 - 07:32 PM Noel's jumpers probably benefited from being in black and white. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Dave Hanson Date: 22 Mar 06 - 04:44 AM TISWAS, this is the stuff, this is what they want........this all they're getting. I still lust after Sally James. eric |
Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 22 Mar 06 - 06:57 AM Both were excellent programmes. Swap Shop was BBC so a national programme for its duration. TISWAS was probabbly London Weekend Television and therefore for a long time was only regional. I had never heard of it before I went to university in Cardiff. At that time it was not shown in the Yorshire TV region. In the north it hit Tyne Tees quite a long while before Yorkshire TV. Other show which arrived in the North much later was Happy Days. Quack! GtD. |

Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Paul Burke Date: 22 Mar 06 - 08:02 AM I always fancied that woman on Picture Book, but I was scared of the face on the door in Andy Pandy. And can anyone explain what Rag Tag and Bobtail was about? |
Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Skipjack K8 Date: 22 Mar 06 - 08:17 AM For those curious what Sally James is doing these days....... |
Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Trevor Date: 22 Mar 06 - 11:10 AM I think it was Patricia Driscoll on Picture Book. And I think it was also her who played Maid Marion in Robin Hood (Riding Through the Glen vintage). Rag, Tag and Bobtail were a hedgehog, mouse and bunny weren't they, on a Tuesday? And Sally James or Maggie Philbin as a fantasy figure? No contest! |
Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Jeanie Date: 22 Mar 06 - 12:39 PM <<<< CRACKERJACK ! >>>> - jeanie (Tiswas and Swap Shop were after my time. I'm of the genteel "Picture Book" vintage, too. Everything that came after was far too uncouth !! ;) |

Subject: RE: BS: Tiswas or Swap Shop? From: Linda Kelly Date: 23 Mar 06 - 02:34 PM My claim to fame -I was in the cage circa 197....... All I remember was Chris Tarrant being vile to the kids. It was filmed in Birmingham which is were Chris T was a tv reporter for Midlands Today (or its itv equivalent) My favourite tv programme was Follyfoot and Peyton Place -not strictly kids stuff I know but it was on at 4.15 each day and I used to leg it out of school as I was heavily in love with Ryan O'Neal. |
