Subject: RE: MUS ADD: Culloden's harvest From: Susan-Marie Date: 18 Apr 00 - 03:59 PM First of all, thanks Alison. Deanta's liner notes say this tune is based on an "old Gealic sea song". ANyone know which one? It's a beautiful tune and if there's a variant with different words (maybe something less depressing?) I'd love to know. |

Subject: RE: MUS ADD: Culloden's harvest From: Susan-Marie Date: 19 Apr 00 - 09:26 AM Yes, I do appreciate being able to just click on the midi instead of translating it. Alison, do you know anything about the "sea song" roots of this melody? |

Subject: RE: MUS ADD: Culloden's harvest From: Susan-Marie Date: 20 Apr 00 - 09:33 AM Alison - Thanks for the connections - Lesley NElson's site has something called Skye Boat song whose first half is an old sea song and the second half mentions Culloden. I'll have to wait until I get home to compare the tunes, but it may be a lead. Thanks again. |
Subject: RE: MUS ADD: Culloden's harvest From: GUEST Date: 02 Sep 01 - 04:01 PM I have been searching for this tune for a long time. Thanks Alison. Not sure yet but it is very reminiscent of an old Gaelic air - not a sea shanty. Will try to come back with the origin. |
