Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in Venice From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 05 Apr 06 - 11:50 AM Hey, Jimmy (& Jayne, Melissa and Steve): Ahhhh, Venice (and Rome:) Ruth and I will never forget the times we had in both cities. After Europe, America seems so mundane. Antiquities here are Mickey Mouse dolls, not 14th century paintings. Don't get me wrong... I love America and wouldn't want to live anywhwere else, despite all of our serious faults as a nation. But Europe is a world unto itself. Have a great time! We look forward to hearing about your trip when you get back.. Jerry |

Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in Venice From: ThreeSheds Date: 07 Apr 06 - 08:00 AM McGrath is spot on about the vaporetta You should be able to buy 3 and 5 day passes an absolute must. Forget about Gondolas but dont miss thee tragottas Unadorned gondolas that criss cross the grand canal for pence Most people stand up on them Youre only on them for minutes they are most unstable and they cross in the path of all oncoming traffic Best of all enjoy getting lost and totally disorientated, it will happen!! |
Subject: RE: BS: jimmyt in Venice From: jimmyt Date: 07 Apr 06 - 08:21 PM Thanks to all. I have just returned and we had a grand time and it may take weeks for my wine level to return to preItaly levels. No Skip we were NOT at the Cipriani, but a modest room in San Marco which only one could be out of bed at a time due to space constraints! |
