Richards, known for such hits as Tumbling Dice and Fool to Cry, was climbing a palm at the luxurious Wakaya Club resort when he slipped. "Picking coconuts is quite common on the island," said a fellow holidaymaker at the resort. "It's just that Keith had a bit of an accident coming down."

Richards was apparently collecting coconuts with fellow band member Ronnie Wood. The guitarist, who has survived years of drug use, was said to be "a bit disorientated" after falling 15ft and banging his head.

From the Sunday Times site. Doesn't sound too bad. In fact "a bit disorientated" sounds like he's back to his normal self.

I don't believe the "picking coconuts" bit. I think he was trying to have sex with the tree and it struck back. A bad day for Keef, but a good day for trees' rights.

I'm almost as old as Keef too, and I still climb the occasional tree, but not palms. They're tough!

I should think that, at 62 years old, climbing trees would be prima facia that Keef is off his nut. Minds me of the famous last words, "Watch this... hold my drink." If I had his money, I'd have just asked for a coconut. Hmmm... maybe that's why I don't have his money. Rock on, Keef.

I read that he and Ronnie were climbing a palm tree and he fell out. The astounding thing is that it is free publicity for their up coming tour. You'd think he'd want to keep the accident private.

Books and Keef seem to cause problems. I recall a few years back that he injured himself reaching for a book in his library at home. Maybe sex and drugs and rock and roll is safer after all? Keep on rocking Keef.

I am a friend of the Richards family and Keith at the moment is going frequently into hospital, for a blood clot in the brain. Please keep him in your prays. d yes he feel out of a hammock next to his cabin, not a palm tree.

As you know people have a tendency to joke, although the bottom-line is that people do care about him and wish him the best.

Contrary to reports last week that Keith Richards, 62, would not require brain surgery after falling from a Fiji coconut tree two weeks ago, after the rapscallion Stones guitarist complained of headaches on Sunday, a hemorrhage was detected and doctors at The Ascot Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand thought it "prudent to move ahead with a small operation to remove the pressure" in his noggin on Monday.

The "small operation," a craniotomy, involves drilling or cutting into the skull to remove pressure on the brain. Keith's representative Fran Curtis termed the operation "100% successful," adding, "There was no brain damage. He continues to improve as expected."

As a result, the Stones' "A Bigger Bang European tour" will begin some time in June rather than on May 27 in Barcelona as previously scheduled.

There is NO truth to rumors that Richards' brain tried to escape his skull during surgery, nor that bloodletting specialist Theodoric of York, Medieval Barber, was flown in for emergency consultations.

Mick Jagger's ex-wife Jerry Hall told AFP that Keith is "doing very well," adding that she is in email contact with Richards' wife Patti Hansen, who is with him in New Zealand.

Hey Duelling Bouzoukis! Word is they gave him Jack Daniels O positive as a transfusion...further word is they had to give him heavy duty stimulants to get him to the level of being anaesthetised! All in fun; drunk or sober, stoned or straight, I still reckon he's the best rhythm player I ever saw. Get well soon Keef.

We have a singer and songwriter here in Oz - Pat Drummond, who wrote a hilarious audience participation song called "If I die before Keith Richards I'll be pissed off to the max". I wish I could find the words, but they don't seem to be anywhere. I wonder if he's been singing it lately?
