Subject: RE: Tech: Membership and how to log on From: Rasener Date: 12 Jul 06 - 07:33 AM When you look at the top of the screen, can you see the dropdown icon to the left of the GO button. If you click on it, you will be able to click on the Login menu choice Follow your nose from there, but do come back if you still can't log on |
Subject: RE: Tech: Membership and how to log on From: Alba Date: 12 Jul 06 - 07:36 AM Hi Black Diamond. There is a box at the top right hand corner of this page that reads "Quick links" It is a drop down menu. Select "log In" and you should be able to take it from there. If you still have trouble logging in, click on "Help" (located just above the "Go" next to the Quick Links box) and leave a message in the help section and an Mudcat Elf will appear as if by magic and help you out..**smile** Welcome and enjoy your time here. Subject: RE: Tech: Membership and how to log on From: Alba Date: 12 Jul 06 - 07:46 AM Eh, Black Diamond everyone seems to agree on the "Log In" process except I did tell you domething inaccurate. "Click on "Help" located just above ...." Wrong!! Click on "Help" located just BELOW .... I require my Caffeine, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.:>) Jude |

Subject: RE: Tech: Membership and how to log on From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 Jul 06 - 07:56 AM As several have said, with details: 1. If you click on "Membership" on the top header, you can log in and/or make some changes to most everything related to your membership. 2. If you click the "windowshade" by the "GO" button, there is a "Log In" choice there. The choices are a little simpler if you only want to quickly log in (or out). For some unknown reason, the choices are in random order, but the Log In is near the top. 3. When you log in, you get a mudcat "cookie." If the cookie remains on your machine, you'll automatically be logged in the next time you come back to the site. 3a. With recent security updates, and/or if you have a "popup/cookie blocker," you may have to tell your browser to accept the cookie. Depending on your browser, blocker(s), and how you tell them it's okay, you may get a "permanent" cookie, or a temporary one that disappears when you close the browser. If you want a "permanent cookie" and have trouble making one "stick," you can come back and ask for help, or enjoy the thrill of searching for several previous threads full of inscrutible opinions about what to do. But Welcome to Mudcat. John |

Subject: RE: Tech: Membership and how to log on From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 Jul 06 - 10:06 AM "Lyrics and Knowledge" is the label at the top of every page that should get you back to the threads. It may seem, sometimes, a bit "counterintuitive" but it's sort of a "traditional" thing. One does fairly often find lyrics. Make your own evaluation of the knowledge, although at times it gets pretty dense. Most pages also have a "Forum Home" link that gets you back as well. Some people spend years here without realizing that if you click on the "Mudcat Cafe" in the header, there really is a home page for this place too. John |

Subject: RE: Tech: Membership and how to log on From: Black Diamond Date: 12 Jul 06 - 03:57 PM hello everyone and thank you for your greetings! I discovered that if you click on the words the Mudcat Cafe after logging in then it takes you to the forum - I worked that out all by myself even without the help of that "must have" aid to everything - my twenty year old son!!!!! Black Diamond actually means ........... coal!! Its the name of a group to which my husband belongs so I thought I would use it - nothing to do with watermelons! or folk! I have browsed this forum quite a lot before finallygetting the courage to post after Ombanjo spoke to us at Beverley. I have found loads of interesting and helpful things - thanks everyone Black Diamond |
