thanks for all good wishes...
and despite some mechanical
obstacles, i was able to attend
a music festival this weekend.

California world music festival

i worked serving food to the
musicians and checking in their
instruments to a safe keeping
space. I also got to hear
Gjallerhorn, a group of
swedish finnish musicians
and got to play nyckelharpa
for them and some others.

also got to give them my copy of
dirty linen magazine that featured
them in an article they had not yet
seen!~

life is good, and the weather
is hot hot hot...supposed to be
107 near here today....whew!

Bastille Day and Woody Guthrie's
birthday are not such bad occasions
to share a day with...

been circling the sun since 1953
and that has been for 53 years..

uphill? i had hoped it would be
a coast down hill now that i am
over the hill....thanks my friends
and please no candles...fire danger
is very high today!!

the swedish birday song says
"may you live 100 years..."
so i may be 1/2 way there now!

i saw most of chico at the grass valley fair
grounds at the world music festival last weekend!

another great event master minded by
Maple Creek Presents (dan dewayne and christine meyers)
featuring music from all over the globe.

it was 107 degrees hot in Chico today so i plan to
stay in the hills where it is cooler. i will
pass along your howdies when i see folks.

I got to enjoy a Swedish/Finnish band at a world fest last weekend.

maybe they need to represent the land of fire and ice at that fest
one day?

I got to say a few (fractured) Swedish words to the Gjallarhorn
band.
and give them a magzine that had an article in it about them which they had not seen while on the road...it was fun to ;ay some trad. Svenska
tunes to them..at a place where there was a lull in the schedule due
to a mechanical audio problem.



ok so any way thanks for the good wixhes...and have you ever read a book about a modern day (like Thor Heyerdahl, Norwegian explorer)
a more modern day guy, Tim Sererin re0created St. Brendan's voyage in a book called the Brendan Voyage he describes it...ox hide boats with hides tanned directly from recipe from medieval monks...with ash branches that grew on the north side of the hill with a certain arch
to use as the skeleton of the boat...
