Oh they do ........ it is just that it gets overused - the word that is - and has lost it's currency.

Only by talking can nations get to KNOW.

Lebonan is hardly a nation when there are factions who want two thing, to BE that nation and to destry all else. And that faction does not want to talk.

Israel is not immune to factions lacking any will to talk.

Give them plenty of land and the water to go with it and there will still be greed. Just less of it.

We could start by suppressing the arms trade. Unfortunately, the arms trade is integral to the way the world works at present - there's too much money tied up with it to have any chance of getting rid of it.

Read the title of the thread carefully. The reason rabid nations cannot untie is because when foaming at the mouth one's fingers become much less dextrous.

Some in power profit economically from war. It's a racket as General Smedley says.

Rabid nation means that the solution is to utterly destroy the "enemy". The rabid nations have to see themselves as such. Then possibly dialogue can open and change can come.

We need to weaken hatred by dealing with solving the problems of peace and justice that serve everyone.

In the Mid-east, recognizing the pain of others, finding common ground by satisfying real needs such as ending poverty, hunger, inequality, creating decent jobs, sharing power politically and economically, accepting diversity in religion, and addressing the basic aspects of survival needs to be done before any vague talk of "love" can make any sense.

Can we as American citizens see parts of our world view as "rabid"?
That would be an important start.

It's very difficult. One symptem of rabies is hydrophobia. Now, if you were to take an island nation and that was to become rabid how could it unite with anyone without crossing the water?
