Subject: RE: BS: Tik Tok of Oz From: wysiwyg Date: 02 Sep 06 - 04:37 PM Thanks-- I had looked for it in that form and didn't find it. It settled a big question, though-- the reader is giving two or more pronunciations of one name in particular, transposing some consonants! ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Tik Tok of Oz From: Stilly River Sage Date: 02 Sep 06 - 04:51 PM Horrible puns throughout those things. As I recall that one was pretty bad! Too bad Baum has turned out (in hindsight) to be such a stinker in what are today considered important political issues. It will probably restrict the circulation of his books, though considering the popularity of such books as "Little Tree," I may be wrong. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Tik Tok of Oz From: BuckMulligan Date: 02 Sep 06 - 06:42 PM WYSIWYG, if you're into Oz, I recommend "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire. I received a copy of it for Father's Day and read it on the treadmill - a very well-written, thoughtful and thought-provoking book. But decidedly NOT "the Wizard of Oz from the Witch's point of view." |
