Subject: BS: Earth-shatterin' Housework Question???
From: Bobert
Date: 26 Sep 06 - 02:59 PM

Well, gol danged...

I been called a lot of things over the eyars but nuthin' hurt more than the P-Vine tellin' me that I didn't have any "Irish wash-women" in me... Yeah, that one hurt me to the bone...

So here's the situation:

Seein' as we have yet more of her family droppin' in fir a couple days today has been clean, clean and clean some more and this question pretains to cleaning a bathroom the correct way... Do you clean the floor first and then the sink and toidy or do you clean the sink and toidy first then the floor???

I ain't gonna say which side of the issue I'm on because it might prejudice the womenz here who love to see me squirm in these little disputes I have with the P-Vine but I will say that she is of one opinion and me another...

So, whaddayaallzthink???

Bobert

Fllor last, as you back out. If you did the floor first, then you'd muck it up while walking on it cleaning the other stuff!:-)

You'll need to use the sink to rinse out cleaning clothes etc so I'd leave it until last otherwise youll ne dup clening it twice.

As a professional ( I worked my way through collage as a janitor) the proper way is to clean the sink and toilet, THEN the floor.

Surprise surprise lad :) I usually follow the rule of gravity anything that is going to fall hits the floor and usually spills when it gets there so top down .

Clean the toilet and sink first cause they stink.
Then clean the floor on your way out the door.

silly question - you do both; multiple times, at no more then 1 hour intervals until the guests departs. But yes, floors last as you exit the room.

TOp down. Sink, toilet, bathtub first, then the floor so you can mop up anything that splashes over, and anywhere you might have tracked dirt while washing the other fixtures.

Also, do heavier dirt first -- get the kludge out, then the gross stuff, then the dust, then the clean and shine work.

Like Mrs. D says...   But I do the sink, cabinets, counters, etc. first, then the floor, because stuff from the counter tops always falls on the floor.

Get someone in to build you another cabinet, then you'll have less floor to clean and more cupboard space to put all the cleaning things in...

LTS

Anyone spot the subtle hint there?

Well, if I DO have to clean 'em, I use one of these, because it cleans and sanitizes at the same time.

Put me down for the "top to bottom" vote. Anything wiped off a higher surface is going to end up on the floor so you may as well do that last.

It's so o-bivious. Whoever is doing the cleaning makes the rules for that day's cleaning.

It's like the old argument over which way to hang the TP. Hang it with end dangling over, or dangling under? Who cares! The correct answer is, "You're supposed to hang it UP."

Tell my friend P-Vine I said so, OK?

Don't make me come over there again.

Hey Bobert, old pal...personally, I do the floor last in the bathroom...that's just how I like to do it. If the love of my life cleaned the floor, then the potty and tub, I wouldn't be complaining one bit...I'd be happy for the extra hand and I bet your love will be happy either way too!

However, if you are talking about the living room or any other room that requires any amount of dusting...ALWAYS do the floor first, take a break, let the dust that you just kicked up have time to settle, THEN dust. That's how it works here, anyway!

You just earned points in my book...any man who helps his wife with the cleaning can't be ALL bad *GRIN*

Bath/shower, WALLS - especially near the toilet (you DO know about aerosol effect, don't you?), then the basin, after you've done all the other surfaces and used it to rinse cloths etc in, then the floor last of all as you back out, as others have said.

I always do the floor last in other rooms as well - seems logical as dust and dirt falls DOWN. And in a brief stint as a housemaid in a posh motel, that's what they told us as well.

uh, Bobad, I recall that after some of my boy cousins had been "out the back way," Granny had to clean off the seat. Yes, there was a toilet seat on the dadgum* one holer.

Considering nanoparticles and what hits the fan, first one cleans the CEILING.

Well, well, well...

Thankee all for your support 'cause I was the floor-last half of the disagreement and I have brought it to P-Vine's attention that she, Irish danged washer woman or not, is in the minority...

Of course she now denies ever havin' the discussion in the first place...

Geeze, first argument I might have ever won and now I'm told it never happened???

And after cleaning tirdies and sinks and all kinds of nasty things and it all comes down to this??? No victory lap... No, "Sorry, GHoney, you were right"... No nuthin' except...

... P-Vine's relatives have come and gone and the bathrooms are clean, clean, clean... Might of fact, thew entire joint is way to clean fir my tastes... Ain't no operation room, is it...

Not to fear... We'll trash it in no time...

Bobert
