"Hay-soos" is the normal Spanish pronunciation of Jesus. In the original language of Jesus' time, his name was not pronounced "Jesus" like we say it, it was probably pronounced "Yesh-oo-wah".

That looks more like the Hitler Youth than anything else I've ever seen in my life, Donuel. Maybe even worse.

'Pastor' Becky Fischer is a friendly, well-spoken engaging woman who 'almost' makes sense..until she says. "you have to understand, WE have the truth"

on the other hand, one of the major players in her camp is a parody of a thin-faced, sneering, righteous fundamentalist who looks like he ought to play the lead in KKK movie...and he talks like he looks. (Saw them both on the news a few days ago)

I heard an interview with "Pastor" Becky Fischer on NPR about a week ago. That was the first time I'd heard of this "Jesus Camp" thing and the brainwashing of little kids, and I've been hiding under the bed ever since!

This "Christian Nationalism" thing that Michelle Goldberg's book Kingdom Coming warns about is much worse than I thought. Pretty goddam scary!

I think Amos has it right. I was watchng CSPAN the other day when they had on a panel of the "Conservative Agenda." It was nothing but Christian Nationalists including the odious Dobson from Focus on the Family. It was sickening to listen to; a refresher on why I believe in human rights for all and abhor their politics. They had a very receptive audience who cheered and clapped when they declared the "homosexual agenda" was more about destroying the "institution of marriage" than anything else and on and on ad naseum.

If I were a traditional GOP I'd be figuring out how to take my party back from them, pronto!

The only time that I can recall vividly that I was deliberately machiavellian with my children when they were small, was when my youngest daughter begged us to attend a fundamentalist Sunday school so that she could go to their Bible Camp with her best friend.

We said, "No problem!" and dropped her off every Sunday morning for 3 weeks, while my husband, myself and our other daughter went on the most child centred family adventures we could think of. At the end of three weeks she decided that the family fun she was missing seemed a lot more interesting than colouring purple Jesus's and she never showed an interest in Bible Camp again......thank God.

I try VERY hard to be a nice, tolerant mind-my-own-business sort of fellow, but there comes a point when the plans of others begin infringing on MY rights and way of life. These people intend to **WIN**...to IMPOSE their notion of religion on the populace at large. They have no use for "separation of church & state".....I'm sure they understand perfectly what the Iranian theocracy and the Taliban are about.
