It just amazed me that the scammer carried on trying to get the money even when he thought he was dealing with the police!

If you click on the letters archive, it seems there are loads of them - pretty much all hilarious. If you want to waste lots of time but have a good laugh, have a look at some. These people must spend all their free time doing this!

That is really funny, but I have to regard it as funny creative writing, rather than a report of a real-world set of communications.

I can hear someone saying, "Well, D'uhh, Dave! Of course!" Maybe I missed the point and just thought it was presented as a report of a real experience. Oh, well.

I don't. I would guess there is quite a bit of "competition" within the scam baiting community and that the temptation to invent bits is great. While I suppose any story could be genuine, I do suspect there is a fair amount of fiction on these sites.
