Subject: BS: How often do you bounce? From: GUEST,weary Date: 05 Oct 06 - 03:49 PM I applied for eight jobs last week and a similar number this. Been doing the same thing for twelve months. Each time an interview comes along (like today) you hope this will be it - it wasn't. So how many times do you have to pick yourself up and bounce back? |

Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: number 6 Date: 05 Oct 06 - 03:53 PM One has to keep the hope ... analyse what one is doing, try a different angle if need be ... but over all be relentless. good luck sIx |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: Peace Date: 05 Oct 06 - 03:55 PM What kind of job are you seeking? |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: Severn Date: 05 Oct 06 - 06:45 PM I dunno, I'll have to do a Bounce Check. |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: GUEST,Ian P Date: 05 Oct 06 - 06:48 PM I remember when I went through a similar period. The feedback from one interview said I should do THIS instead of that. So I did THIS at the next interview. The feedback from that told me I should have done THAT, not this at all. Very frustrating. But don't give up. Best of luck. |

Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: pdq Date: 05 Oct 06 - 08:19 PM With some people, "be yourself" is the worst advice you can give them. |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: GUEST,Chongo Chimp Date: 05 Oct 06 - 08:40 PM King Kong didn't bounce. Not even once. Sounds to me like you're doin' okay, pal. Just keep tryin'. What I do when there ain't enough gumshoe work is...I pray for more crime. More unsolved crime. Chicago has never failed me yet on that...but sometimes things get a bit lean toward the end of the month. Me? I just keep bouncin' back. |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: Peace Date: 05 Oct 06 - 09:33 PM I repeat, "What kind of job are you seeking?" |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: Keef Date: 06 Oct 06 - 03:49 AM If at first you don't succeed. Perhaps losing is more your style! |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: GUEST Date: 06 Oct 06 - 06:12 AM The type of job is irrelavant surely. |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: Paul Burke Date: 06 Oct 06 - 07:48 AM The type of job is relevant if you are applying for one for which you aren't qualified, or for which demand has fallen due to technological or social changes, or if there's a better chance in a different area. The more information people have, the more likely they are to be able to help. But as for the original query, don't allow your estimation of yourself to be affected by others' misestimation. Make sure that there is life beyond work and "sucess", it's not everything. I should know. |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: Grab Date: 06 Oct 06 - 08:04 AM Does your CV match what the job description says (and preferably plus a bit more)? Or are you missing some (paper) qualifications? Worth checking... |
Subject: RE: BS: How often do you bounce? From: GUEST Date: 06 Oct 06 - 09:24 AM Yes I'm qualified including up to date training and I have years of experience. Too many years as its a lot cheaper to employ kids and no I don't get to choose how much I'm paid. As to whether there is life beyond work - life tends to need paying for I find! |
