Subject: RE: BS: car v.s. dog==sad news for me and my dog From: Hawker Date: 18 Oct 06 - 12:46 PM Big hugs and kind thoughts from me too, I lost my black cat on a black road a few weeks ago. He did have the added complication of being blind too - and bull headed enough to try and get out of the house at every opportunity! Much Love, Lucy |
Subject: RE: BS: car v.s. dog==sad news for me and my dog From: Little Robyn Date: 18 Oct 06 - 03:05 PM We lost a dog that way too - complicated by the fact she was deaf and didn't hear the motor bike that hit her. But our girl wasn't killed. She had a broken leg which was operated on and a plate inserted and antibiotics given and lots of other painful and expensive stuff. She lasted another sad 10 months until the vet decided to remove the plate, which had loosened screws and was causing infection problems, but then found the bone underneath hadn't healed at all. So she just never woke up. It seemed kinder than removing her leg altogether. She was 16 years old and always in pain. At least your dog didn't have to go through that. Very sad for you though. ((((I understand)))) Robyn |

Subject: RE: BS: car v.s. dog==sad news for me and my dog From: Zany Mouse Date: 18 Oct 06 - 04:38 PM Oh Laurel I'm SO sorry. I lost a dog a couple of years ago like that. He was a rescued dog, found wandering, and proved to be the eternal escape artist. Rhiannon Read this, it may help: Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... |

"flat coat retriever") came trotting across the street right towards me...wearing a red bandana...i told him that cars were evil and to stay away from them. |
Subject: RE: BS: car v.s. dog==sad news for me and my dog From: Zany Mouse Date: 21 Oct 06 - 11:29 AM I know you're hurting like crazy at the moment but do remember the very best memorial of all is to say "That was great, let's do it again" and head hot-foot to a local rescue centre. It helped Mick and myself when we lost our dog in the same circumstances. Rhiannon |
