Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview From: 3refs Date: 20 Nov 06 - 11:42 PM No doubt he had his hand in the cookie jar. Where the problem lies, is the fact that someone helped to make sure we knew he did it and they shot themselves in the foot in the process! We all know the lengths that people will go when they want something. The secret is not to get caught! |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview From: Ron Davies Date: 21 Nov 06 - 06:56 AM What a shame. Now he won't be able to use his theme song--and very little needed to be changed to fit the occasion. (I also understand Simpson can hardly write--much less write a book). If I Did It If I did it Time and again I would try to say All I want you to know If I did it Words wouldn't come in an easy way Round in circles I'd go Longin' to tell you but afraid and shy I'd let my golden chances pass me by Soon you'd leave me Off you would go in the mist of day Never, never to know How I did it If I did it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview From: Amos Date: 21 Nov 06 - 10:38 AM A foxy call by Murdoch; the proposed publication had already generated tons of publicity, which was multiplied by the conscientious cancellation, which altogether was worth tons in advertising costs, and although the book was electrifying, it is not as though it had any special redeeming social value. Hypothetical snuff porn, in effect. Ms. Regan will have been disappointed, I expect, as she was acting as the publisher and seemed to be building quite the wave, but I think Rupert was making a savvy call. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview From: SINSULL Date: 21 Nov 06 - 12:02 PM Seems to be some funny business re: payment. The Publisher paid a third party who then paid OJ so that the funds would not be used to pay off his civil suit. What a bunch of pigs. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview From: Stilly River Sage Date: 21 Nov 06 - 02:05 PM The news this morning said they were going to destroy some 400,000 volumes that have been printed already. I am assuming the attention paid to securing this load of shit won't be as careful as guarding something like the latest Harry Potter tome. No doubt some of this offal will ooze over to eBay as people pilfer copies and put them up for auction. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview From: Charley Noble Date: 21 Nov 06 - 08:58 PM A rare case of sanity in an insane world! Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview From: Little Hawk Date: 21 Nov 06 - 09:08 PM Why doesn't he just throw all caution to the wind and publish a book called, "I Did It And I'm Glad"? On the cover he could be shown sticking out his tongue, holding his hands outspread beside his ears, and wiggling his fingers. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview - book cancelled also From: GUEST, Ebbie Date: 22 Nov 06 - 06:04 PM Speaking of which: It makes no sense for the ban against double jeopardy to be applied in the context of murder. When more evidence comes to light, including confession, why shouldn't a homicide be retried? |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview - book cancelled From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 22 Nov 06 - 07:05 PM Which has a different, and significantly less rigorous, standard of proof than a criminal court. There is no inconsistency between the two court outcomes. Double jeopardy doesn't apply in cases of murder in the UK now, when new evidence turns up that is strong enough. But a non-confessiion ("I didn't do it - but if I had done it, here is my imaginary account of how I would have done it") wouldn't count for much. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview - book cancelled also From: SharonA Date: 22 Nov 06 - 08:49 PM Heard a quote from O.J. on an entertainment-news TV show today: he says he's already spent the funds he received, and that he used them to pay his bills. So much for Regan's statement that the money was going to his kids. If there's such a thing as pure evil, O.J. is it. Wish it were possible to put him in a plastic bubble so that when he does die, the evil can't spread into the atmosphere. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview - book cancelled From: GUEST,dax Date: 16 Dec 06 - 05:15 PM It amazed me after the trial how public opinion about his guilt followed racial lines. If his wife was black would he have been found guilty? If he was white and his wife black what would have been the opinion then. If he were not a sports icon would most care? Perhaps too many innocent blacks have been condemmed without a fair trial so some see this as a payback, but do two wrongs make a right? Very subjective questions but did the system fail and why? What have we learned from this, if anything? |

Subject: RE: BS: Fox cancels OJ interview - book cancelled also From: Alice Date: 17 Dec 06 - 11:58 AM LA Times is reporting that Regan made an "offensive" phone call before she was fired. ---quote LA Times, Dec 17, 2006--------- ... Senior executives at News Corp. said Saturday that although Regan was let go not because of the controversy over either the O.J. Simpson project or another contentious book, a forthcoming fictional "reimagining" of Mickey Mantle's life that had drawn advance criticism for its salacious content, both incidents contributed to her downfall at the company....... .... The last straw, however, came Friday afternoon, when Regan, working in her office in Los Angeles, blew up on the phone at a lawyer from HarperCollins in New York who had been helping the publisher handle problems with the Mantle book. Regan was dismissed for cause shortly after that phone call, according to a high-level source... --end quote-- |
